Yes i have been playing around with my BMC. take it from me it works much better hear!

Ahhh.

I bought myself one on tuesday but haven't yet had time to fit it. Hopefully Saturday i'll be free.

Can you please tell me though Andy. How is the air getting into the Main part of the BMC. I cant see a space where air can get through the top grill without something been in the way. I'm having difficulty finding the best place for my cold air feed.

P.S. how much was you breather.

Kool, i wanna get one, but not sure about insurance issues. dont wanna put one on, crash then find out im not covered cos i aint declared it. I think ill have to wait till novemeber, im goin to change to a more mod friendly insurer.

I want too keep then engine cover on aswell, not sure if this will be possible tho.

What I an not sure about with these intakes is to optimise the air into the engine, you surely need to get an inductive force of air up the pipe.

On my previous car, the air intake was such that it not only sucked air in as required (the faster you went), but at speed it was positioned such that it was literally forced up the intake pipe. Some air intakes are designed specifically with a cone end to ram the air in as my previous car had.

So, with it in the front rather than behind the engine, I would presume you are optimising the air induction into the air intake better than round the back right?

Is the intake hole behind the front grill such that enough air is forced in? If so, then I can see it would make the engine more 'dynamic'.

I wanted to say the same. You should be getting a little more power because of the new position of it.

Also, i had a question.

Shall i settle for BMC or a K&N induction kit?

K&N is so much cheaper.

Recommendatiions plz...

I've herd that K&N will only lose power and that BMC is the only way to go

Now that's odd, cos on my last car the only recommendation ever was K&N as the BMC kits were too troublesome and broke up after a while being in a hot engine compartment. K&N's also didn't mind getting wet at they allowed air in and kept water out. Can't see the BMC doing this as it's open ended?

People recommend K&N Panel Filters cos they use the Cars airbox to flow cold air to the filter.

Like its said above you need a constant supply of cold air for the induction kit to be beneficial.

K&N 57i kits dont have good cold air feeds etc so will suck in warm air rather than cold air and will therefore make things worse rather than better.

Any kits like the BMC and Pipercross Viper (not available for PGTi yet) are beneficial due to the cold air feed, simple Induction kits are not.

Also 57i kits make the cars thirsty. Me and the mrs used to own Cinqy sportings (dont laugh) I had a 57i kit and an exhaust fitted and hers was standard. I was getting 180 miles/tank and she was getting 260 miles/tank. Hell of a diference!

I got mine from a place called Larkspeed. I paid Â£175 for everything you need, including the breather which doesn't come with the kit.

It is simple to change aswell. Took me 30mins to take the old one off and put the BMC in. I'm currently still using the original air feed, until i find a really good place where i can get cold air from.

Ive fitted mine if anyone no's how to get pics from a samsung phone ill show you it!

ive got the 90 degree bend which ive fitted a forge motorsport alloy t-piece then ive got a samco hose onto bmc with another samco reducer to the original air feed! ive put samco hose with connecter to the breather pipe which goes into the t-piece so no silly breather filter on show!

going to put second air feed onto the bit which cools the the front of cover! so air from original pipes and from lower down!

it gaggles a gooden!

How did you remove the old piping used for the standard airbox. I cant see where its attached too, and i cant remove it.
