V(W)trub quote £449 for cam belt, £499inc water pump. Tad dear perhaps but you get a nice VW receipt with 2 years warranty on parts fitted, prob useful when negotiating a trade-in....Nora wrote: Tue Jul 24, 2018 8:04 pmA local indie has quoted me £364, but I suspect both the indie and the stealer hasn’t factored in the possibility of needing a new water pump which was also changed last time the belt was changed, but I’ll clarify if the stealer will include the pump.Leif wrote: Tue Jul 24, 2018 8:15 am You could always get the belt done at a decent indie. I tried to get my Up belt done locally but he said he would need to buy a special £200 VW specific tool, so it wasn't worth it for him.
The stealer who is only 5 miles away has also agreed to collect it from where I’ll store it, do the job and return my current car while I’m away on holiday. Whereas the indie is 15 miles away and doesn’t have any specific means to collect the car to fit around my holiday plans.
Ive ordered the engine oil, got the filters so I should be able to do the engine oil change, reset the SRI etc this weekend.
Ironically I do have the tools to do the belt myself, but with a new contract at work finding time would be difficult, which is why I’m having it done while I’m away on holiday

Re: New GTI + delivery
I will ping you a pm - thanks.barrywi wrote: Wed Jul 25, 2018 2:17 pm Not sure about the notifications. The complaints I have made were to VW customer service and were not criticising the dealer.
The dealer has been great, I have known the salesman for many years and he has emailed me copies of emails he has sent to VW and their replies. If you pm me with your email I can forward them to you.
I will try VW direct as a last resort and as you say if you do not ask you do not get.I am in touch with Cadwest who lives not too far away by email as he is expecting his Gti very soon as well. Glad to help in any way.
Looks like the repeat stage 6 notification did have significance - my dealer rang me this afternoon to tell me that my car has arrived at the dealership. We booked an Aug 1st delivery slot (the car will be trailered up to me in Newcastle).
That is a very quick dockside to dealership delivery for Grimsby. It is not unheard of for cars to be languishing there for 3 weeks. Hopefully they'll start unwrapping it soon to show the video that the dealerships seem to do now (had it for my last 2 Golfs). Will pm a link to the video when I have it (unless they don't bother for cars coming through the fleet side as a broker sale).
There's no chance for me getting anything for having to register early unless it comes from VW themselves (I will aim to ring them tomorrow to enquire and lay my dissatisfaction on thick as a new VW owner for the 8th time).

Re: New GTI + delivery
Well pleased for you, hopefully mine will be arriving in the next couple of days as well. I’ve preliminary booked my car valeter for the 2nd of August as the hosepipe ban comes in for us from the 5th and he’s booked solid after that.monkeyhanger wrote: Wed Jul 25, 2018 5:59 pmI will ping you a pm - thanks.barrywi wrote: Wed Jul 25, 2018 2:17 pm Not sure about the notifications. I've also heard cars landed at Grimsby tend not to remain dockside for long so hopefully car delivery & handover very soon. No sign of any hosepipe ban in these parts as yet but can't be too far away TBH....

I live in the Lake Didtrict and a hosepipe ban is imminent. At the same time they intend to take water from our lakes for the rest of the country. Well that makes sense...not.

Re: New GTI + delivery
Just outside Grimsby we have a reservoir called Covenham, Anglian Water dug and buried a pipe line right down to Cambridgeshire, the money they paid for that to be done, it would have been cheaper to build another Reservoir down there, so instead of pumping our water down there, they would have had their own water supply. But luckily, we have no hosepipe ban yet.

The water shortage must be bad over your way, I see on the news, that they have shut part of the Leeds - Liverpool canal?

Need to ask if it has Tombstone tyres on it!Cadwest wrote: Thu Jul 26, 2018 8:25 amMine has updated as well this morning so if it’s the same as you mate my car should be at the dealers some time todaymonkeyhanger wrote: Wed Jul 25, 2018 12:15 pm I've just had a repeat of Saturday's tracker stage 6 confirmation this morning - anyone else? Shamed VW on a Facebook post this morning about WLTP enforced early registration. They told me to contact my dealership.

It’s got the 17 inch on so hopefully not but if it does I’m putting Michelin cross climate plus on straight away.

Re: New GTI + delivery
Dealer just emailed to say our car is arriving at the garage today, not sure from where or when. No notification from VW.
HOWEVER..... Just heard that the M6 is blocked both ways at Galgate with huge tailbacks so it never rains but it pours!

Re: New GTI + delivery
Just been contacted by my dealers to say that the car has arrived, they seemed unaware that half the winter pack is missing so having to contact VW about compensation.
