Agreed, i'm loving the exhaust note already, not even hit 300 miles yet but put the gearbox is sport manual mode and it pops and bangs very nicely!

Good grief the factory closed for a further 3 weeks!! My 44 weeks for delivery will be up last week in November. This would mean the build date would need to be 8 weeks earlier at the end of September> I cant see that happening. Live chat with VW this morning said I "might" hear an update in the next 2 weeks. mmm

Well I'm glad some of you have got their cars at last... As my previous post, my GTI+ was supposed to be delivered last Friday but delivery was cancelled the night before. I have just managed to get an update from the dealer; there is a fault with the digital dash and they need to order a new part from the factory.... Goodness knows how long that is going to take! I have been supplied a basic Leon hire car meanwhile but am really annoyed about this, especially as my original delivery date was mid June. I am minded to push for some sort of compensation, perhaps some freebies, any suggestions?

From what VW have said all non WLTP Polos( like yours) have to be paid for and registered before the 15 th August. How strict this date is I do not know. Also as the South African factory is closed for another 3 weeks they say, where will the part come from? I presume you have not paid for the car yet so they are going to have to do something to fulfill your order. Mine was picked yesterday but despite a Feb 10 th order no compensation has been offered.
I would suggest you talk to the dealer and say that you will pay for the car to be registered on the understanding that you get an equivalent car to use until they get the part and that the VW compensation scheme will apply and that you should get £500 or £750 compensation as well.

Thanks Barry, it is on PCH so technically I will not be the owner of the car so I doubt I will get any monetary compensation. And the car is registered already as it was to be delivered to me the next day.
Confusingly the manager I just spoke to said that the factory had just opened again (BW31) so not sure what's going on. Either way it is likely to be a while

Anyone bought any GTI chrome loops gor their keys yet?

Surprised the Polo doesn't come with these. In the early days of the MK7 Golf GTI and GTD, some dealers were retaining them and not fitting them to the keys. Wonder how much they are - might have to order some from my local TPS.

After 6 months waiting for ours nothing surprises me about the information VW give out. Once VW South Africa said their factory was open but VW UK said it was shut, another time I was told our car was on one of two boats but in fact it was on a following boat. I think the best policy is never to believe anything they say and then you never get disappointed.
Re the dashboard fault, was it the display that was playing up? Surprising it was not noticed before the dealer got it. I think the VW T Roc has the same display so maybe the part will be available soon. I would certainly ask for a Golf GTI or similar as you are still paying for the car even on a contract.

I have been offered a bottle of wine as a gesture from VW! [emoji35]

£2.99 from Aldi I bet.
A crate of £20 per bottle wine would make it worthwhile.
Actually it is the dealers who get the rough end of the stick from VW sometimes. They work on small margins with little help from VW UK.

I will send a pic of my Golf R key when I get home. It is a chrome extension of the bottom of your key, where the keyring loop is - it fits over that and is engraved with "GTI" (or "GTD" or "R").

Both the keys for my GTI+ have the chrome loops on the bottom of the key.

Ah! Seems you've been lucky, most on here haven't had them I think. Might have them on mine tomorrow.

Do you have the full led headlights ?
I read somewhere that the DRLs at the bottom of the bumper are fake. You have DRLs in the headlight cluster.
There should still be cornering / fog lights at the bottom though.
