The fog lamps have clear lenses and the other lights are next to them. What is the point in fake led lights, just as cheap to fit proper leds for some purpose like see you home at night lights?

If you have standard headlights, the DRLs are in the bumper. But if you have full led headlights, the DRLs are part of that cluster.

VW must just find it cheaper to make all models with a space for those bumper LEDs ?

On cars with halogen headlamps, they’re the DRL’s. As the GTI+ has LED headlamps with the DRL strip integrated into the headlamp, the multiple LEDs (outer section of the light unit in the lower bumper) serve no purpose and don’t illuminate. The inner section of the lower bumper light unit operates as the cornering light / fog light.

Here's the R key. GTI has a similar chrome add on.

If Dan has his then i'd expect them to be standard equipment. Perhaps the PDI person couldn't be bothered to fit them and they reside in the little barcoded plastic bag that they came in. They could be stashed in your glovebox or in the wallet all your manuals should be in (also in the glovebox). Mine were loose in the hlovebox for my Golf.

The one I bought for my key is just plain, the one that I bought for my wife's key - is still in a safe place as she has made it clear that she does not need any more extra weight in her handbag, another fail by me!

With the previous generation Polo GTI, the keys didn’t have a chrome cap - just plain black plastic. No chrome cap was supplied. If you wanted a chrome cap with or without GTI logo, you had to ask the dealer for one as a freebie or buy one.

EDIT; I’ve just seen in an eBay ad that a seller has stated the chrome ‘GTI’ key cap is not for the new AW Polo (see details towards the bottom of the ad), so assume the key for the new Polo is a different design. Link to the eBay ad below;

If you have full LED headlights, the lower LED DRLs in the valance seem to be dummy units.

Plain Chrome, or plain black plastic? If black plastic then have a rummage for them to see if they're in the glovebox or armrest cubby, in the aforementioned clear plastic bag.

If these can be filed down (I will strip my R key for a look to see whether it looks like the chrome cap would fit the polo key with a little modification if mine comes without caps), it might be worth getting a set from your local VW dealership parts dept or TPS, they'll probably be cheaper than ebay, which will have some postage put in, Seen dealerships selling £2 chromed Audi 12v socket covers online for £8 a pop - will almost certainly be cheaper direct. I'm sure these are about £10.50 each at TPS.

Just been looking on ebay for Polo 2018 stuff and came across this - a new Polo with only 227 miles on it which looks to have been written off!

Yes, you can get them much cheaper than the one in that eBay ad. I only posted the link to the ad so forum members could see that the seller had stated it wouldn’t fit the new Polo key.
