Plain Chrome, or plain black plastic? If black plastic then have a rummage for them to see if they're in the glovebox or armrest cubby, in the aforementioned clear plastic bag.
Plain Chrome , no gti writing
That'd be fine for me, i had thought from posts here that people were getting the all black plastic keys without any chrome capping.

I suspect that the filing down that Joe alluded to is probably a guide pin on the face of the cap that meets the body of the key, which fits into the body (or vice versa), with said pin needing filing.

If I remember correctly, the previous Polo, ie 6C, the keys came with a removable end part, it looks like access to its fixing screw is by opening up the key, then the chromed part comes with its own fixing screw, probably slightly longer than the one used to fix the plastic end part on, if that helps, I'd guess, by only a guess, the filing is to reduce the now exposed part of the key after removing the plastic part, so that the earlier chromed part can fit over the end of the key.

I love the smell of new car in the morning!

Mine has arrived. A few concerns about scratches that were residues and rubbed off!

I drove it all of 25 yards from behind the flatbed van on which it had hitched a lift from Nuneaton to a space in my works car park.

Brescias look great (but on Bridgestone Turanza tyres :x ), handbrake looks very slack when the handle is any less than 35 degrees above the horizontal, rear camera looks very clear, althiugh I would've been fine with just pips if this order grab car hadn't had it specced, and surprisingly, at idle the car sounds meaner than my Golf R (not soundaktor noise, genuine stood outside the car while it purrs noise). Plain chrome caps on the keys. Haven't tried Nav or messed about with any of it, just drove it into the parking space.

No time to post pics yet as I had to minimise time receiving it as i'm on works time.

Ordered some bits to prep - fallout remover, upholstery treatment protection spray and C2V3 sealant all from G-Techniq, to arrive tomorrow.

Good to hear it’s arrived monkey. My car is getting detailed tomorrow, decontaminated, clay barred and then coated with silver seal, my chap says it will take about six hours to do It. Picking it up on Friday, so excited.

Good stuff monkeyhanger, glad to hear it all went smoothly. Glad I’m not the only one that thinks it sounds better than the golf R haha.

Someone has put a video up on YouTube of the Polo GTI next to a Golf GTI to compare sound and the Polo definitely had a deeper more menacing sound to it.

Keep the impressions coming of the car.
I think the letters on the plastic controls could be a touch bigger and whiter. Things like the climate switches and cruise I find a bit difficult to read, but after a while I will know where everything is.
A quick query , once set , how do I cancel guidance?

Should say comparison in car size!
On another subject has anyone thought of replacing the rear indicator bulbs on the gti+? Strange omission not to fit led indicators as the rest of the lights are leds. Not sure how easy they are to change and whether the cars electronics my not like the swap. They seem very small and insignificant compared with the front ones.

Hello,

Interesting reading through this thread. Interesting enough to join in and contribute.

Ordered my Gti+ with just the change to the interior dash colour in early July and was quoted an estimated arrival time of January.
It seemed a long time to wait but I went with it anyway.
I was given an order number about a week or two after placing my order and have since downloaded the my VW app and it has been sat at stage 2 - with factory.
This is going to be a real test of patience.

As for the key topic, I saw a video of someone collecting a Golf R and the guy prepping the car at the dealership had the key and a couple of accessories in a bag.
The accessory was the flashy chrome piece which he used to replace the plastic cap.
I would not be surprised if the Gti models come with the same thing and it then falls to the dealership to decide if they swap it over.

Anyway, hello all. Glad some of you lucky wotsits have got your cars but it appears that it has not been without the long wait.

Hi Peeceeuk, welcome to the VW Polo waiting forum, the majority of members, are on the waiting list . By the time you get your Polo, this posting alone will have gone past the 100 individual posts. When you look through the posts it's all about waiting for their Polo's, what VW have taken off their Polo's since they ordered one, the list goes on and on.
But this time next yearall the members waiting, including yourself will have their/your Polo's sitting on the drive, then see how many happy members there will be :D.

Did anyone get a paper instruction book in their plastic box with the navigation chip in?
There are clips that hold something but nothing there.
My mate has just picked up a new Audi A6 and that has a massive paper manual.
The dealer says he has never seen a paper manual for the Polo system but will dig around.

Thanks for the welcome silverhairs.

I decided to have a chat to my dealer, well actually I put a couple of questions to him in an email and he called me, but I got to asking about how long before you start expecting to see build dates etc.
He had a look to see if he could find one but nothing yet.
He said that the factory will shut down for a while because the European workers go on holiday for a while.....I then asked how many European workers there are in the South African plant...tee hee.
That and the new emission regulation thing that for some reason seems to have caught them somewhat off guard. You would think that they would have prepared well in advance of that being introduced but it is not just VW that are guilty of leaving things 'til the last minute.

Ah well. It is such a shame that the first drive of mine will not be in this amazing weather.
