has anyone managed to fit these arches onto a squareback before? I realise that there will be some cutting involved but would appreciate the advice from someone who has done it before.
Even better does anyone know of any pics on the net showing this mod.
fronts are striaight swap (obviously) Rears will not fit. neither wiill the sill extensions sadly. The problem with arch trims on the back of a squareback is where to end them as the line of the arch goes all the way around the back of the car.
All you could really do on the back is to find a set of mk2 stone deflectors (like I've got on mine below) which would fit in with the rest of the plastic trim. That way at least both ends would match up properly.
Like this:
Although you could get them from a car that had the rest of the trim, the strip under the door etc so it would all fit properly.
whoa... thats some serious arch welding/panel beating/welding thats gone on with that wideboy squareback there
hmmm, the arch trims - i smell CUSTOM PROJECT time down the local design/tech college! Eee, finish sanding oop that wooden mould and get et on t'vacuum welder boris..
Thats a mad German one! Don't think thats been done over here. I'm guessing some old front wings were chopped up, with the old square style wheel arches being cut out, and the round arches from the front wings welded in place?
That bad boy is ebel-tec's 1400cc G60'd Mk 2 polo. It isn't a G60 engine, just the charger, maybe the ecu too. It's actually a Mk 3 G40 engine. It has some serious modifications going on. Translate the text and it will take you about 10 mins to work out some of the mods, lol. I'll bet that is seriously quick and have monster amounts of torque.
