Put the engine back together, and fixed it all up, turned it over with a wrench to make sure nothing was catching. All seemed fine.
Decided to start it up,
it went clunky clunk then all exaust gasses shot out of the rocker cover., seems to be pumping exaust gases back up through the valves.
Any suggestions?
Also, where can I get another engine from if I have truely shafted this one?

- you had more than one bent valve and a sticking valve (due to bent shaft) has just colided with another piston - they don't take much to bend and when the timing chain snapped on my 24V senator at walking pace it bent every single valve bar 1 (to be honest I think that was bent too but I couldn't be bothered to set the dial guage and v block up to check one valve
- Alternatively that little dent on the piston wasn't such a little dent and you have a broken piston and parts of it are going walkabout!
"Clunky Clunk" is mechanical contact so you haven't got much choice than to strip it down and see whats up
