So you have your GTi + ?? when did you order and actually receive ?
How you like it? is it worth the painful wait ?
thanks

Re: New GTI + delivery
To save you having to plough through all the old posts ,we were very lucky. Almost on the spur of the moment we decided not to buy a classic Ford Escort( well the boss did quite sensibly!) She said she wanted a car that was faster bigger and more comfortable than the VW High Up we had. As a car nut I knew exactly which car would suit us best so the next day we went down to our VW dealer 5 minutes away and after about an hour of negotiation we got the part ex deal fixed and put down £500 deposit. We went for a flash red colour, Parker wheels ( I did not want an even harder ride of the Brescias and they looked harder to keep clean) . Navigation climate and winter pack were also added but I forgot to order the blind spot monitoring as I thought it was standard. That was on February 10 th and the car arrived on July 29 th just before the deadline caused by the WLTP regulation non compliance by VW. Because of this we had to register it as a 2018 model and could not keep it until Sept first to get it as a 68 reg. This was not really a problem as we had ordered a private plate, and the dealer did a free mot in June on the UP, stuck to the price negotiated and when the car arrived with only half the winter pack ( no headlamp washers or heated washers) he negotiated a full refund of the winter pack cost to me rather than a reduction. He also said not to bother having the UP serviced or replacing two tyres that were due for renewal, so that saved more money.
During the waiting period VW UK( not the dealer) were pretty inefficient at keeping me up to date on a build week, which ship the car would be on and final delivery date. They even told me that our car was not affected by the rear seat belt issue, but I have just had it fixed!
Considering we had no chance to drive a Gti before buying or even see one, I relied on tests to decide which car to buy. There was not much real choice at the price. I did not want the boy racer image of either the Fiesta ST or a Renault as I am 72. The Polo Gti+ is more grown up , looks like a Golf and has a better interior than others ,even almost on a par with the more expensive Audi A1 ( no Gti version on sale yet) . The performance is really good and I would not want any more, it is fast. I love the bright clear lcd panels for the Sat nav/ Multi media and instruments, though Iam still not totally familiar with all the combinations of display. The ride is as you would expect, firm but not outrageously so. The road holding is accurate and not so twitchy as to be annoying after a while.
Minor dislikes are.
1 I think the writing around the switches on the heating and steering wheel could be brighter and slightly bigger to make them easier to see in a hurry but that could be my age!
2 Because the battery is in the boot it is not quite as deep as in the UP, so our dog is higher up, but at least you get a spare wheel of sorts.
3 I find the repeat indicator in the mirrors a bit too bright at night, with no way of dimming.
4 The LED headlights are not as bright as I had imagined, with the rear indicators being normal bulbs. Also the headlamps were adjusted too low when it arrived but they can be adjusted.
5 The most annoying thing for me is the reminder on the lcd dash to switch the headlamps on even when it is not very dark. OK you can leave the lights on auto but when the reminder comes on it blocks part of the display and cannot be turned off.
So there you have it. Considering we could not see or drive the car before buying, a lot was guesswork but we are very pleased with it overall despite the small niggles. It is still a rare car , even my dealer has not had one, and though it is a long wait for delivery I would say it is worth it. I cannot see any competition yet on price and spec, and as I said , most people think it is a Golf, it is nearly as big and just as fast in the real world.

Re: New GTI + delivery
It seems that the majority of pending orders have been given a week 10 build week
Re: New GTI + delivery
Are people getting their build weeks from the app/tracking or direct from dealer. My dealer is full of promises, will get back to you soon, but never hear from him
Re: New GTI + delivery
When I swapped my order over to a GTI+ my dealer informed me that a February build week was likely. He also said that a lot of the GTI+ were being built in that month.
No idea what to believe though.

Re: New GTI + delivery
It is probably true. I think that RHD polos are build in one batch then assembly line have to switch back to LHD and once they have enough orders they gonna switch again etc. It would be inefficient to build just a few of them and then switch whole line again.S_94 wrote: Sat Dec 22, 2018 11:48 am When I swapped my order over to a GTI+ my dealer informed me that a February build week was likely. Barry I’m wondering if the reminder can be switched off using VCDS?barrywi wrote: Fri Dec 21, 2018 10:53 am 5 The most annoying thing for me is the reminder on the lcd dash to switch the headlamps on even when it is not very dark. The 1st minor mod I do with VCDS on my vw’s is change the courtesy flash of the indicators so they flash for longer.
I’ll probably annoy the dealer by hooking up VCDS and doing a baseline scan before I drive it out the showroom

Yes it may be possible but I bet the dealer would try and charge for it.
Re: New GTI + delivery
Don’t you know anyone who has a VCDS cable?

Re: New GTI + delivery
No not really. Do you need a laptop and a program to use it?
Re: New GTI + delivery
Any windows based device will run the software which is free to download, however it’s the cable that has the license embedded in it rather than the software. There are illegal copies of the cable for sale but I suggest you keep away from those.barrywi wrote: Mon Dec 24, 2018 12:53 pm No not really. Do you need a laptop and a program to use it?
There are a few people advertising on evilbay that will come to you with a VCDS setup and do work for you
