I have cutted those flex cables to reduce width, otherwise you cant fit them to slip-ring. It will not reduce any wires quantity! You need just two wires "+" and "-"
To change illumination colour i have removed all white leds and soldered red ones

Ok thanks for the information...
I thought backlight colour is on buttons
I have also a Fabia 5J (2010 facelift) with the black-green screen and I want to change to Maxidot IC. I bought a used 5J0920841E SW 0305 HW H04 cluster but I haven't found someone yet to have the equipment to fit it.
I tried on Skoda dealer but they couldn't program the IMMO and they also said that the IC couldn't recognise the can computer - the button on the stalk didn't change the menu on the screen.
I am looking for some recommendation on what HW and SW a DIYer can get to perform this process.
I have read the whole thread and others here in the forum but I can't buy a supervag.
So I am wonder if there is an alternative solution for SW and HW that can be done as a DIY.

Hi Theo,
I think 5J0920841E should be good for your car. What is OEM number of your original IC?
Without IMMO adjustment it will not work!
So anyway you need special device for this...
I can do it for you (not for free), in that case you need to send both IC’s and one working key to me.
I don't have access on the original IC now and I forgot to take a picture when it was out.
I will have to plan it since the car will have to stay standing for the time the parts travel to Netherlands and back to Greece.
In general, is there an option I use a eeprom reader clip and a usb dongle to extract the eeprom and send the files to someone to extract the PIN from the bin files? (I will pay for the PIN oc)
Is this something feasible?

Thanks for the offer MaDwArLoCk

It’s more complicated that you think.
With simple words: Immo data indeed stored in EEPROM but it’s encrypted and decryption key is in the IC’s CPU.
So it’s not possible to extract immo just from EEPROM, this can be done only with a cluster itself...

i was told that the profile system set the individual setting inside MFA depending on the key used. E.g. you use the first key and set the MFA data based on your preferences, then the second key will have its own set preferences.
