With all the wiring involved, did you fit it your self or someone else?

I added the wire from the 5F to the AID and then the dealer fitted and coded the keys/Immobiliser/Mileage then once in i sorted out the rest of the adaptions to have the Maps display in the AID.

Do they charge for doing this? And coding other things, such as the LED rear lights... I could ask them but, easier typing [emoji23]Scotty_boy vw wrote:I added the wire from the 5F to the AID and then the dealer fitted and coded the keys/Immobiliser/Mileage then once in i sorted out the rest of the adaptions to have the Maps display in the AID.

Is it possible to add navigation if it wasn't chosen as an option. I imagine a new head unit for starters. Not sure if the GPS antenna would already be there or would need to buy this as well. I've got AID but no point in nav option if I can use Android Auto maps on the head unit.

They have leaflets in the dealer saying about adding satnav, some Kenwood thing... unsure if it'd be suitable for the Polo's though.broberty wrote:Is it possible to add navigation if it wasn't chosen as an option. Just been doing the normal commute this week but was a nice surprise to follow another GTI yesterday morning. Second one I have spotted apart from mine around the north east. Red one this time.

Discovered that the strengthening bar type thing under the rear boot floor behind the rear seat is what was giving me the annoying squeak in the GTi+ for the last 5 months!!!

This is awesome! How much does it cost to retrofit the AID? Are there any special requirements for that (for example, you have to have composition media to be able to fit app-connect, though from what I see every trim in the UK comes with it)? Can you display Google Maps navigation on the AID via Android Auto?Scotty_boy vw wrote: ↑Fri Jan 11, 2019 8:13 pm Today I retro fitted Active Info Display...it’s sooo dam cool

That display is nice.
I'd probably stretch to a couple of hundred quid to get that done, but no more.
Tell me what the actual cost is, even as a DIY project....

Re: What did you and your Polo do today?
Well, today upon going round a corner my car decided that the strain was oh so much to keep traction and up the verge I went.
My guess is a patch of the slippy stuff on the road, not long after another went in just up from me. Fortunately I cleared the fence... but all envolved are ok.. I'm sure these terrible Falken tyres didn't help the situation, with the little grip they offer in damp conditions.
Damage what I can see so far is bonnet, bumper, wing, inner arch, grilles, mirror, wheel and obviously the lights. Not forgetting about the scratches along the N/S of the car, A-Pillar and roof.
Structure wise it's all roughly in place, fronts been pushed backwards a bit but all main chassis components seem to be holding up.
I did manage to limp it to work, but there it shall stay.
Being recovered tomorrow and I suppose I'll go from there. I've been told a Hyundai i10 is waiting for me - Oh joy.
On the plus side VW Insurance are ever so pleasant to deal with.
