Anyone know what that spring lever is, serviceing my car and was just wondering! Thanks! (Just trying to educate myself!)

If that lever is on the under side of the air cleaner assembly, then it will be to control the "warm air" flap that has a thermal device at its end to sense when the ambient air is colder than X degrees Centigrade and so under these conditions draw into the air filter after passing it over the hot exhaust manifold/pipes.
