Circumstantial evidence, mate.
Prove the person coming into the dealership is the same person posting here.

It does raise an interesting point though, in that people who reveal their numberplates online are silly.
Allegedly, insurance companies have been known to look at posts on certain very large car-related forums looking for numberplates of people modifying their cars.
And insurance companies have also been known to walk around car and bike trackdays taking notes of the numberplates.
Which is why when I do trackdays on my bike, I take it there in a van and the numberplate can stay at home.

That's it booked in.
So weekend job is changing the bulbs back to standard....
I remember they were valeo bulbs, so should be easy to find in my ever growing collection of bulbs.

I wouldn't class changing bulbs for other equivalents (55 or 60W) as tampering. If there's been other higher powered e.g. 80 or 100W bulbs in there, along with physical evidence of damage caused by their fitment (heat damage to lenses/wiring etc.) then that's a different matter.

My driver side headlight is completely misted up. Guess I should mention this at the next service in a week or two. S’pose it could mean dipped lights look brighter to oncoming traffic. And the headlamp will be less effective for me too.

Not sure where you get your 60W bulbs from? The H7 Osram Cool Blue intense bulbs are12V 55W. but they claim they have a xenon Look, up to 4200K and up to +20% brighter. But then again do have a shorter life span than normal halogen bulbs.
I had some +20% in the Mrs car, I fitted them in 2011 and up to now there still giving out a good beam, so that's 7 years. I've got 4 of these bulbs and will be fitting them soon as the normal standard halogen bulbs are rubbish, and their low on the road.

Ah, don't you just love dealer logic/service.
Left my car with the dealer all day yesterday thinking they were going to change the headlight.
Oh no no no noooo, it needed to be with them a whole day just to agree it's misting up!
It's to go back to have the headlight fitted, once it comes into stock.

Car booked in for new headlight on Tuesday.
I asked if I could wait for it, the service assistant said "yes, but it might take a while because the bumper has to come off "
I replied with "no it doesn't" and suddenly realised I'd opened myself up to them thinking 'how would you know'....
But they didn't pick up on it.

Aaaaaand the new headlight has started misting up too....
Nowhere near as bad and not in a critical place, but still.
I'm going to see if heating up the outside of the lens tonight with a hairdryer gets rid of it.
I've no idea what's wrong with these headlights and no idea why it's only the driver's side.
It only misted up last night after I changed the bulbs, so I'm guessing there's something about the driver's side headlight that means the vent is easily blocked when you re-insert the light into the body.
Weird as hell.

By the way, for anyone else with this issue.
If you have fancy bulbs, remove them before you get the new one fitted by the dealer.
They just slot in a whole new unit with bulbs already fitted.
They don't swap the bulbs over as I thought they would, so you chance losing your fancy bulbs.
Seems very wasteful of VW to do this, but there you go.

Could it be worth checking the wee small breathers on the headlight. Could of pinched them when putting the headlight back in?

I don't see how, TBH.
The breathers must just be holes in the units, there's no 'dangling pipes' that can be nipped/trapped.
The lights just slot in/out, I don't see how I could have blocked any holes.

I'll have a look tonight, take the headlight inside into the warm.
Baffling that it's always the driver's side, when the passenger side is actually the worst light to remove/replace and the risk of cocking it up is higher.

Ah, actually, maybe you mean the rubber covers that allow access to the bulbs?
They're all in place.
Some people actually reckon they can cause condensation and you're better without them, but that would then allow road water to splash into the bulbs and I'm not doing that.

Perhaps I'm just thinking things ..


I'm sure there was some weird small little rubber things on the back or bottom of the headlight.

Perhaps it was just me thinking of something else...
