Aircon always on?

Driving home tonight my Aircon light was on when the dial was set to windscreen and a terrible smell filled the cabin... Changing the direction and the A/C turning off solved this issue. But the temp was 1.5c.

If I put the A/C on manually in any other position the smell came back again, indicating the A/C was certainly on?

Surely this goes against this 3c rule?

I'd say like a damp smell, more than likely as you say - Bacteria.. yet another thing what's become apparent since it's been in for a service...

Although, they didn't change the filter. Who knows...

^ you could try one of those £10 bug bombs to freshen it up if it's definitely the aircon rather than sodden carpet mats giving that "wet dog" smell. I prefer rubber mats.

Me too, rubber mats imo are nicer, plus with some nice dressing come up really well too.

May try one maybe grab a pollen filter too, they're only pennies.
