GTI + (Help, Niggles, Annoyance)

Post by shiggy »

have a GTI Plus..pretty much stock.

after around 500miles, there was a distinct rattle in the middle of the dash. sent to dealer and said it couldnt be resolved with 'rattle' stickers (yes dealers have a VW sticker kit to reduce rattle noise i am told), so the infotainment screen was replaced despite it functioning properly...the conduit supplying hot air to the passenger foot well had previously came loose but was resolved as part of the infotainment works..

However, the rattle seemed to disappear and then its came back....very frustrating.. - anyone having or had this issue ?

additionally, how do you add the 'time' to the driver screen ?

the only way to have the time visible for me currently is to turn the full infotainment screen on....

ive had sqeeky wipers, 3rd set seems to have sorted it...for now..

overall 3 out 5 - now i have 7 months/ 4,000mls in. coming from a Golf R and Golf GTi previously, the Polo GTi build is pretty poor...

I have squeaky / juddery wipers and put it down to the film on the windscreen they've failed to remove during PDI. I know this since when it's misty on the inside you can see where the shipping label used to be. I'm only on my 3rd set and polished the windscreen twice and it seems to be ok now...

Im assuming you have the digi-dash hence no clock.

Mate of mine has the Digi dash in a T-Roc and has the time, I'd assume there's a setting somewhere in the infotainment system .

Try the following;

On infotainment display, press the ‘Menu’ button, go to the ‘Set Up’ menu and select ‘Display’. You’ll see an option to ‘Dislay time in standby mode’; touch the tick box, and the clock should now be displayed when the infotainment system is turned off.

Shiggy:

You never had crap wipers on your Golfs? I've had crap smeary wipers on every VW i've had new since 2005 (7 of them) - usually made by Valeo.

Might well be contaminated windscreen straight from the factory, begging for a harsh clean, but swapping out for Bosch Aerotwins has made a difference on every car. My 2015 Golf R is full of rattles, the main one has been there from the day it was made (buzzy/rattle from drivers sun visor when not flipped out in use).

Remember the Golf advert where a squeak in the car was traced to the female driver/passenger's earring?
That advert was banned ,so many owners complained about rattles/squeaks in their VW.
Wipers, like bulbs, are one of the things I change as soon as I get a car, I take it as read that the standard stuff is cheapest-bidder rubbish.
Bosch aerotwin for me too.
