Not necessarily. My car went into production on the week starting 21/01 and it propably left for Emden as soon as 11/02, even though there was another ship earlier that left for Emden on 30/01. I know for a fact that some cars built on the same week as mine got on the earlier ship, but mine apparently hasn't. I'm not trying to bring you down, just saying that not all cars get on the earliest possible ships. I hope that yours did.Martin-GTi wrote: Tue Feb 19, 2019 7:47 pm I haven’t received a call back from my dealer yet, but as our cars were confirmed as built within 24 hours of each other, I suspect they’re enjoying the boat ride together![]()

Hey SRGTD
Many thanks for link. Few more bells & whistles now as standard from when I ordered mine. I like the push button start function

I noticed now that VW offer the BeatsAudio system as an option? I know last yr it was not an option for GTi plus. I tried earlier this yr getting it added to my order but was met with a wall saying NO unless you want to reorder and set back your build date again. I dont understand why sound system could not be installed during that production run? I mean lets be honest, the whole range of polo's must be BeatsAudio sound system ready if the customer wished to have it? I was told the line has all the components sat on the shelf ready for a particular order and if you didnt order a BeatsAudio system, then it wont be on the shelf and therefore aint going in !!! surely they could just add to it ?
Any thoughts? And what about an after market option to fit one of these systems ??

Think the Beats system uses different door cards and trim, don't think it's a simple case of different speakers in the same housings as other cars.gonk1959 wrote: Wed Feb 20, 2019 1:27 pm I noticed now that VW offer the BeatsAudio system as an option? I stand to be corrected here.
It's a good system, but shouldn't be very hard at all to get as good/better using aftermarket stuff in your own car.
What is the charge for Beats as an option?
You may also be able to use this stuff in another car when you sell this one and just put it back to standard.

You are able to change your build spec up until when the build date is confirmed, at which time the car’s build becomes ‘locked in’. After that, if there are any changes you wish to make to your car’s spec means starting the order process again from scratch and enduring the wait times.gonk1959 wrote: Wed Feb 20, 2019 1:27 pm I noticed now that VW offer the BeatsAudio system as an option? Like most manufacturers, VW’s vehicle production process operates on the ‘just in time’ business model, so they don’t have stock of components sitting on shelves that they can draw upon if a customer wants to change the spec of their car - as I understand it, all components / parts are ordered in for each specific car’s build on a car by car basis. There undoubtedly needs to be a point in the build cycle process when a car’s build spec can’t be changed further, otherwise I dare say ‘last minute’ changes could be quite disruptive to the factory production schedule.
As far as the Beats sound system is concerned, I had the Golf equivalent (Dynaudio) in my mk6 Golf and was a little underwhelmed with it. It’s fine if you like music with lots of bass (I don’t) and you like to listen to music at high volume (I don’t), but at normal listening volumes with all the other noise sources you can hear in a car while driving (engine, tyres/road surface, wind etc.) I’m not sure you’re really able to fully appreciate it. I have the standard Composition Media system in my previous generation Polo GTI (no Beats or equivalent upgrade was available) and it’s fine for my listening needs.
From a personal perspective, I’d rather put the £425 that the Beats option would cost towards upgrading my home sound system.

I wouldn't order Beats, because I'm an audio enthusiast. It's like with every other Beats-branded audio piece, it's meant for bassheads and certainly lacks in medium and high tones.gonk1959 wrote: Wed Feb 20, 2019 1:27 pm I noticed now that VW offer the BeatsAudio system as an option? Thanks Andy Beats
door cards or trims ?? I still don't accept that options cannot be easily fitted throughout the model range during the assembly of a vehicle. The main body is the same throughout the range. The clothes and accessories can be added or not as it moves along? For example. A wiring harness fitted to a base model would include extra wiring needed for use in a GTi ? Only difference being those extra wires & plugs in the base model will do nothing. It makes no cost effective sense to produce 2 different harnesses for 2 different models. Surely one size fits all ? look at door mirrors. The same mold on a VW model will fit a Skoda model. just like the "UP" its the same shell as the Skoda and seat versions.

Dreamscape - Thank you very much for the info. That’s useful and prompted me to call my dealer again to find out where my car is. Let’s just say they were less than helpful. My sales guy is on holiday this week and the receptionist said they had no way of finding out where my car is, except for using the on-line tracker tool.Dreamscape wrote: Wed Feb 20, 2019 9:53 amNot necessarily. I then called VW customer services. They looked at my order and said the location of my car is ‘blank’, which they think means someone forgot to update it with shipping details. They helpfully told me “It might be on a ship, but if it is, we don’t know which one. Or it might be waiting at the dock for a ship, but we don’t know and can’t find out”.
If VW are deliberately trying to be the antithesis of proactive communicators or people that care about their customers, they’re doing a great job!
Sorry - rant over

Hi Dreamscape
I know what you mean. I love my music too. I have a icon audio KT66 tube Amp and Roth floor standers. Project debut 3 turntable. A cheap set up compared to what some audiophiles will pay. nevertheless it set me back 4 grand. Beautiful tone. I am a bit of an old classic rocker, led zep/deep purple/pink floyd etc etc. So like lots of noise and bass in the car. Who listens to quality in the car?? Yes the whole Dr Dre thing is for petrol heads of the drum n bass scene.

Re: New GTI + delivery
I ordered my Polo GTI 2.0 Plus in April 2018 I am still waiting ! I was told to expect it in July 18 then Sept 28 then Dec 18 and now I’ve been told I may not get my car until June or Sept 2019. I keep checking on MY VW and it’s still only at level 2 with no sign of a build date. I initially received no updates from the dealer in Loughton, Essex and had to keep phoning to enquire. The salesman promised to keep me informed, he didn’t. I went into the dealership and asked to see the manager, the Manager didn’t appear, instead the Salesman just whimpered on about unforeseen circumstances outside their control ??? To say I was/still am frustrated is an understatement. That Salesman left the Dealership, and I am now dealing with a very helpful person who sympathises with me and the situation and has given me a free service on my existing Polo GTI as a gesture of good will. After all I shouldn’t have this car now and wouldn’t be paying for services or MOT’s for 3 years. I just don’t get what the hold up is ? New build GTi’s are being delivered to the dealership so I don’t get why there is still no build date for mine. It’s now nearly a year since I paid the deposit on my new Polo GTI
This beggars belief. Also my car is depreciating in value since the part ex deal was negotiated so what will happen come D day ? Is anyone else in my position ? Can anyone offer any advice please ? I just can’t imagine ever getting this car. I was told initially the hold up was due to the factory being closed, then told they were having to carry out emissions tests ? I now understand that if and when the car does get built that it could take a further 2 Months to ship it from South Africa to the UK ??!!
If I didn’t love and really want this car so much I would have demanded my deposit back and gone to Audi long ago.

Welcome to the club. Your wait in months is around the same as mine and and a few others. Mine ordered January 2018, VW UK tell me it is confirmed for a build in the first week of April 2019. I've had this confirmed twice now by different head office staff, however the dealership say they can't see this on their system. My app doesn't update either but as I've said before I think its timed out as it asks me if I have the car.
We now know that they had to redesign the exhaust system to pass the new emissions test. Doesn't sound as good if the videos are to be believed. (Monkey is going to be uniquely placed to test this when he has 2 GTIs sat side by side. [emoji6])

As far as wiring looms go, it is not one common loom for everything, with plugs going to waste if you ordered a basic car - VW are that efficient with their materials. Not sure the numbers for the Polo, but there were 9 loom variants for the mk7 Golf at launch.gonk1959 wrote: Wed Feb 20, 2019 3:59 pm Thanks Andy Beats

The just in time approach for parts stock also means that the inventory of parts for manufacture needs to be extremely tightly controlled to avoid cocking up the build schedule.
Yes, cars can share different parts across the group,, that doesn't mean they've got a ton of parts allocated to no cars, just in case a customer changes their mind at the last minute for spec.
My VWs have always had a locked in build week 3 weeks in advance of build. For the Polo I have on order, it's been 10 weeks notice of a confirmed build week - they're taking a much bigger window to confirm build week and secure parts.

Me and John Polo both ordered the same date in January 2018 (whilst they seem to have lost his order behind a cabinet initially) we both have build dates now, my app updated middle of Jan this year to advise me of a build date W.C 04/03/19 so given you ordered in April I would assume your a few weeks behind us which would make sense if they are now building via order date (but this would require logic, which based on who did and didnt get their cars in the first wave pre WLTP is a giant mystery).
Like you I have a current GTi which funnily enough went for its Service and MOT yesterday (funded by VW) seeing as the new car should have been here 6 Months ago - one of the first things I did when this mess started to unfold was enquire on the Part X which we signed in January to make sure I would not loose anything come the new car arrival - I got a letter in writing confirming the part X would be honoureed at what was signed at regardless of the delivery date for the new car.
The frustration has been testing to say the least, before the latest update id lost total interest in the car (there is only so many reviews you can watch on You-Tube to keep you enthused), but I want the car and seeing how long I have waited I would be silly to pull out at this stage and would loose out massivley on the difference in value now if Part Xin with Audi or something similar.
The factory does seem to be picking up momentum now so hopefully your build date is right around the corner - stick in there!!!! If the comments Monkey and Barry have made about the cars are aything to go by its totally going to be worth the wait!!!!!
Hopefully Im not far away now - will have a few queries when it does eventually get delivered such as the Winter Pack (now missing components since ordering).
Out of curiousity what was the spec of your Car on order?

The GTI+ is a bargain next to the Golf GTI which is now heading north of £30k in RRP.
My second looks like it will be built within 5 months of order placement, yet I see others waiting 14 months. Mine is being fulfilled by the fleet arm of the dealership group, and there in is the answer to waiting times, I think.
It seems clear that dealership allocation for the Polo GTI is low through retail channels, and broker orders going through fleet sales seem to be getting fulfilled quicker.
Hang in there, the + is worth the wait for the fact that it is bristling with tech, and performance is good - great if not on Flintstone Turanza tyres. Changing mine out this week has greatly improved the drive in mine.

It can provide a lot of bass, yes, but it can be turned down.
I like bass, I play bass, but that doesn't mean I like bass to overpower the sound.
I find the top end plenty, the tweeters have bedded in nicely and me all the top end 'tss' I need.
I'm certainly not into drum n bass, I'm 52.
This morning was a mixture of Vitalic and Chaka Khan.
