Polo Master Window Switch issue

Post by quinnyefc »

Hello Guys, Not 100% sure im in the right place but ill have a go
right so ive got a 2016 polo TDI

ive got a issue with the Master Window Switch, Left the window down by accident one night and now have a issue with one of the buttons.
when it first happened i heard the passenger window clicking as if was constantly trying to go up.
This then dissapeared and the window button has since decided to work ok again. but only works if i try to put it up!

if i try to put it down i get no response from the window but on trying to put it up, works fine.
it works ok from passenger side so i believe there is a little water damage inside the socket. i need advice this socket out to clean it and hoping it will work, this is due back to the leasing company shortly so want to try and get it sorted before it does get returned.

is the panel easy enough to get off? ive also looked for the part on ebay to replace if i cant seem to fix it myself but cant find the exact part. Can anyone help me out :)

the part number for master switch if not mistaken xxx959857. so you can google that either with 6R0 at the front or 1K0 i think. China made normally 5ND959857.

As far my experience is concerned, it’s hardly any mechanical issue with the switch mechanism and it should not allow any water to pass through by design, but the original switch is using small spring inside so maybe you can open up and try clean and assemble back. It should be nothing serious. There’s another mechanism design from china(with chrom lining) which is not using any spring. instead its pure plastic mechanism with rubbery material that makes the switch operation feels expensive like most in Audis.

To get access to the switch, better from the inside. means you better open up the door card and pull the switch from below or else it is easy to break the mounting face is you try to take the switch from outside.

Quinnyefc; assuming you had your 2016 Polo on a 3 year lease and it’s due to go back shortly, doesn’t it still have the benefit of the 3 year warranty? If so, then get it booked into the dealer to replace the faulty window switch under warranty.

Anyone know anywhere I can find a decent tutorial for taking off the door card, I’ve not find any for a similar model to my own, I’ve found a couple of the screws by feeling round the door etc but just want to make sure I do it correctly

Below is the switch bezim if that helps at all as in what I’m looking for

You also have to release the electrical connectors. (not necessary to remove the mirror parts, obviously)
