Thanks all for input on the vehicle tracker - there are definite pros and cons; after a wait of 15 months for my incoming GTI I’d like to keep tabs on it, as balanced against stolen/recovered vehicle which I don’t like the thought of. Cheers again

This video explains what happens when a car that’s fitted with a tracker is stolen, and what lengths thieves will go to disguise the identity of the vehicle as well as why they know about dealer fitted trackers and where to look for them

Back to delivery.....

My wife picked up her new Polo Gti + four weeks after visting the dealer to enquire about one.

We were very lucky and were able to pick up a cancelled order. It's not our first choice of colour, we did want white but it's second choice Flash Red. Would have liked sat nav too, but we can use car play for that I suppose.

So far the car has proved to be great. It's our first automatic and getting use to it is a little dificult. The tyre noise a little loud but I think thats down to the Bridgestone tyres. About to spend the whole of this weekend ceramic coating it.

I wouldn't be sad about that at all, look upon it as a lucky escape.
Waze/Google maps are just as good, often far better, than OE satnavs these days.

I took delivery of my new 2019 GTI+ at 5:00pm today. That was after a few hours of paperwork, trade-in finalisation, other paperwork, etc. I declined their ‘invitation’ to have a series of photos taken for their Facebook account and website, and felt the grand ‘uncovering’ was pointless. After almost a year of waiting, I just wanted the keys and to be able to drive it.

I’ve only done 15 miles so far, but love it! I have the Brescia wheels (which look amazing) and was worried it’d be too firm, but the suspension is compliant and comfortable. It’s sporty and firm, but not harsh. Tyre noise isn’t great, but I’ll change the tyres at some point.

As it’s new, I’m driving in ‘D’ mode and taking it easy. It changes gear earlier than I’d expect, but I’m not pushing the throttle too hard (yet) & am new to DSG, so early gear changes might be ‘user error’.

I’ll clock-up some miles tomorrow....... 😀

Brilliant. Nice present for the weekend.
Yes, think I'll be ticking the no publicity box when I eventually get mine. They don't deserve the promo tbh.

Just don't wait too long to change the tyres, they really spoil the car. VW should hang their heads in shame for putting such unsuitable rubber on a hot hatch. Bridgestone should be done for false advertising to be masquerading as a premium tyre manufacturer.

I've got 8 Bridgestone tyres at home taking up room (4 each off my Golf R and Polo). I'd like to take them to the Wolfsburg HQ, pile them up in view of the main entrance and set light to them. Maybe VW would take the hint not to choose them in future - had them on 3 Golf's and my Polo.

Anyway...enjoy the car, then feel like you got a new car again when you change the tyres - less tramping, less noise, more traction, more grip, softer and more compliant ride.

Thinking of ordering the Michelin Pilot Sport 4 tyres today. I don't think the car will be here for another 4-6 weeks but there's a good discount on https://www.blackcircles.com.

Is this the right spec for the GTI+ 215/45 R17 Y (91)?

Yep these will be fine for Parker wheels. For Brescias, I'd do (and did) 225/40 R18 because they're £40 a corner cheaper than 215/40 R18.

I believe there's a cashback campaign with Michelin that runs to the end of April. I will probably take advantage and buy another set just before the offer expires in advance of the wife's incoming GTI+ Which is due to be built next week but may already be built if VW are still a week ahead of schedule.

I’d like to swap out to the Michelins ASAP too, hope I can sell the Bridgestones - if I don’t get the chance to dump them in Wolfsburg :D
