New GTI + delivery

Just had my 5a notification for GTI+ No 2.

Not sure what the notifications denote for the Polo.

For a Wolfsburg Golf, they were:

5a - left Wolfsburg on a train to Emden.
5b - arrived at Emden, waiting on a ship to the UK
5c - On a UK bound ship.

I'd better start getting the Golf R tidy for sale and getting some nice pics done.

I emailed my dealer regarding the ship and he got straight back to me.

My car was released to the ship on the 3rd of March so he's sure it's on the Glovis Spring. For reference my car had a build week of 04/03/2019 and the tracker said In Transit on 07/03/2019. Guessing my car was actually built a week before if it was released to the ship on the 3rd.

Has anyone had the dealer tell them that if we leave Brexit without a deal before the car arrives with them there could be a 10% increase due to tariffs?

I believe this was for anyone who ordered after Jan of this year. Someone please quote if I'm wrong.

They'll have a nice stock of GTI's if they tell people they need to pay an extra 10%

There is a possibility of delays to deliveries if we leave with no deal - but I doubt anyone has a definite answer to any of it.

Once I'd received my notification of the build completion, I talked with my dealer and raised this.
He said that I won't be expected to pay it and he will see to it that I don't if it ever comes into play.
My order was placed in July.

Correct. Even then, only a possibility, if tariffs actually come in. If German cars are suddenly 10% dearer, we might buy fewer of them. The Germans want us to continue to sell us cars without hindrance. I doubt our government will impose such a tariff unless it's a t*t for tat because the EU slap a tariff on our car exports.

Dealer was able to tell me at this stage - it’s on Grand Dahlia. Went to 5a (in transit) on 9th March so boarded the boat a couple of weeks later; I’d suggest if you have a build around the same time then we’re on the same boat. Or in the same boat, if you’ll mind the pun!

Hey, the app showed week 11 (w/c 11th March) but the dealer confirmed week 10 (w/c 4th March) which is the one it actually was.

Cheers. I'm wondering if everyone's car is being built a week before the confirmed build week.

My build week was 04/03/2019 but my dealer said my car was released to the ship on the 3rd of March. Must have been built a week before.

No idea if my car is on the Glovis Spring or Grand Dahlia... dealer seems to think Glovis Spring.
