I’ve just been and looked at the car and gotta say I’m impressed even though it still has the wrapper on and is waiting for PDI, I’ve questioned some previously mentioned items such as the change of spec to the winter pack and sports suspension, so I and the dealer await a response from VW UK, once we are clear and can finalise the cost then I can take delivery, this could be as early as Saturday or the following Saturday

What’s the suspension change?

Way back when the car was launched there was supposed to be “active” sports suspension, which I understand was changed to “sports” suspension. Exactly what changes to the package that I originally ordered, and what was delivered is what I’m trying to find out, likewise I understand the washers where deleted from the winter pack, and because of this some of the pre-emissions owners got a partial refund from VW Uk for expected features that where not delivered. Once clarification from VW UK of the what spec has been delivered ‘vs’ what I ordered, then I can settle the bill.

The only thing I’m disappointed with is that it has a space saver spare tyre, so I’m looking at acquiring a set of steel rims to use as winter tyres and as a full size spare for touring holidays outside the uk

He couldn’t tell me when I could pick it up though as when I ordered mine (Feb 2018) I managed to get the years free insurance, which they don’t do anymore. He reckons that alone can take up to three days.
My tracker is also still on 5b.
Can’t believe I’ll be driving around in it soon, was sure it was a myth
Hi EmmaBx
interesting. I emailed my dealer as they have promised some form of compensation for the time my car is taking to reach me after ordering last March and told delivery would be June poss July same year. Also told the offer inc 1yr free insurance. Told a month later it was a mistake coupled with the 1st of many delivery date let downs. I suggested they honored the free insurance by way of compensation. 2 days later and still no reply. This is the type of treatment I have received ever since going into VW and ordering car. Seems they just don't care
I got a years free insurance with my current Polo back in 2016 so when I placed the order for the new one last year I asked if they still did it, they said yes and so it was all agreed. I only found out they no longer do it a few months back when a friend of mine bought from VW. I emailed my dealer to find out if it would still be honoured and thankfully they agreed.
If they can honour mine I do not see why they can’t honour yours?! It’s like a penny in the ocean for them!

iirc the free insurance was included in the finance/PCP packages, but not included with cars purchased for cash.
It was mooted online that the manufacturer provided insurance didn’t meet the expectations of the owners when it came to claims and when the renewal came around there where huge jumps in prices

I've only ever seen the new Polo GTi advertised as having sports suspension with sport select dampers (2 mode, manually selected) which yours should have.

Since the current model Polo was launched, I think there’s been inconsistency at times in the description of the 2 mode sports suspension on the GTI/GTI+ between the price list, configurator and spec details elsewhere on VW’s website. There was quite a bit of confusion on the forum after the GTI / GTI+ order books opened last year as to what the Sport Select suspension consisted of because of these inconsistencies / errors. VW seem to be quite good at introducing errors into their product literature and then take a while to correct these errors. As far as I’m aware, there haven’t been any changes to the GTI / GTI+ sports suspension since the car was launched (at least not for UK spec cars - not sure about other markets).

As far as the Winter Pack content is concerned. Heated washer jets haven’t been deleted; they’ve never ever been part of the Winter pack for the current model Polo. The initial description provided by VW in their product literature of the optional Winter Pack content for the current Polo stated that it comprised of heated seats, headlamp washers, heated washer jets and low washer fluid warning light on the instrument display. This was incorrect - it has only ever consisted of heated seats and low washer fluid warning if you have the standard Jacara checkered seats. If you’ve opted for the optional Art Velours seats, then the Winter Pack consists of just the washer fluid warning light, as the Art Velour seat option includes heated seats. Again, it took ages for VW to correct this, and some forum members were incorrectly advised by VW Customer Services that the Winter Pack included heated washer jets and headlamp washers - presumably, they were using the VW price list as their information source which was incorrect at the time.

You get 5 days "free" insurance with your new VW, so that the dealer doesn't have to pester you for proof of insurance when you drive it away. I say "free", because although it costs you nowt, it does come with the hard sell for you to buy a full year from them. VW insurance used to be AXA provided, it might be Allianz now. I always found the full year quote to be silly money vs what I could get it for.

I was under the assumption I'd have to insure the car before I collect it on Saturday. I wasn't even told about the 5-day insurance.

You have to know what your new reg will be, and then you ring VW insurance and tell them when you want it to start (after giving out the usual insurance quote answers). It's not something your dealer can do for you, but they usually prompt you to do so, so that they can tax the car, knowing that they have proof it is insured when the tax is applied to the car.

Perhaps they've pulled the scheme, or maybe your dealer is a bit slow and will realise the days before collection that he/she can't tax it without proof that you have insurance.

I've had it on my last 6 new VWs, it's a convenience thing for the dealership to tax your car, and had it on my GTI+ in August.
