Model Year 2020 changes?

Post by SRGTD »

Historically (with the exception of last year due to WLTP), VW have incorporated the main model year (MY) vehicle spec changes to their model ranges from build week 22 each year, with any further ‘tweaks’ being made from build week 45.

Has anyone heard what the main MY20 changes are (if any) for the Polo range? Hopefully forum member Joeknight94 has some insider information and knows what the changes are and is able to share these with members when he next logs on to the forum.

Just our of interest is build week 22 the 22nd week from the start of the year or the launch of the model?

You usually get nowt for nowt. If they include a £300 option "for free", it usually coincides with a price rise that will cover it.

If they have to give you something that costs them next to nowt, I'd be guessing voice activation. The hardware is already there, but you need to buy an activation code to use it.

I've been curious about the voice activation ever since I saw a message saying I'd need to get it switched on.
What would it give me over using Siri via carplay?
I can already do pretty much everything via that, play music / send texts / make calls.

It’d probably not give you much then, other than a hole in your wallet equal to the cost of activation! 😂

I have a friend who demonstrated voice activation to me in his new Ford a few years ago. He’s lived just outside Glasgow all his life so has quite a strong regional accent. Voice activation didn’t seem to work too well, so maybe it struggles with some regional accents.

Siri and Alexa both recognise my strong Scottish accent, nae bother.
Maybe car systems are best avoided then.
