Engine coolant sensor
Hi I am a new driver, not sure if in right area but any help would be appreciated I drive a 1.4 polo 3dr twist its a 2003 reg and I'm having problems starting after research I believe its the engine coolant sensor I have attatche a picture I just want to confirm what I'm looking at is the right thing, any advice appreciated just a new driver after some help

If that's the right hand side of cylinder head looking from from of vehicle you're in the right place.
On my 2002 1.4 BBY I seem to recall the sensor plugged directly into the cylinder head and lies north-south, i.e. front to back.
It might have been located in the elbow/thermostat housing in other models.
It should be held in by a circlip/spring clip.
