Ordered my new Polo GTI+ on the 3rd of August as it being sat in Bury st Edmunds dealership unregistered - told the salesman that I want to wait until September to take delivery as it seemed pointless having it on a 19 plate rather than a 69 for the sake of 3 weeks. Was given my handover date on day of purchase as 2nd of September at 10:30. Although on Friday 30th of August had a phone call from my dealer saying it won’t be handed over on the 2nd due to RDE delays and it should be sorted within 10 days.

Nothing heard back yet though, so VW haven’t been grated the certificate from the VCA like Seat have, only can be hopeful that it’s sorted soon. Makes it worse seeing my car sitting in the dealership car lot with it’s 69 plate on 😭
The Seat Leon Cupra owner on seatcupra.net has been given a collection date of 9th September - originally planned for 1st September. A member on VWROC.com has been given a collection date of 15th September for their new Golf R - they were previously told 9th September. The fact that a Golf R owner has been given a collection date suggests that the VCA has removed the registration block on VW’s - or at least they’re in the process of doing so.

That’s interesting to know. Last I heard was they hope to have it sorted by week commencing 9th of September so I’ll get in touch with my salesman today and find out if the VCA have approved it. Thanks for getting back to me.

Just an update - got in touch with my salesman yesterday, and still no date given for handover. He also said he hasn’t heard anything from the VCA yet so the wait continues unfortunately.

I'm in the same boat as you all. I ordered a stock Polo GTI+ at the beginning of August, but thought I'd wait a few weeks for the sake of getting a nice, shiny new 69 plate. However, I'm unable to get a delivery date out of the dealer, as they're not sure when the approval will be received. It's good to read that Seat has received approval though! I decided to contact VW UK directly during my lunch break today and got the following message:

Thank you for your query today. I'm very pleased to hear you have purchased a new Polo GTI plus. Due to the new Real Driving Emissions (RDE) regulations, we are waiting to receive an official registration approval (known as a derogation) from the Vehicle Certification Agency (VCA). Whilst we are hopeful that the VCA will grant this registration approval very soon, we do not have an exact date at this time however, we anticipate that this will be within 14 days. Please keep in touch with your local dealer for the latest updates on your vehicle. I apologise for any inconvenience caused.

This is 14 days from the beginning of September, so that means most of us will be getting our cars w/c 16th September 2019. I'm just sad that my car is sat outside a VW dealership until this is all sorted out!

Thanks! G.
