Polo 9N 1.4 16V TRW Calipers - banjo bolt torque setting

Any idea what is the torque setting for the banjo bolt?

I think it differs according to the crush washer type.

From the 6R Polo Haynes book 35Nm for the front bajo bolt and nothing for the rear ones, maybe as you have discovered - nothing much in the 9N Polo Haynes book other than fully tighten!

In my experience, these banjo bolts, when used on brake callipers are only ever used with flat aluminium sealing washers - some refurbished callipers come with copper flat sealing washers which might be because the aluminium ones filed when hit with salt in winter, again from my experience of a 2000 VW Passat that was used in salty conditions, the old aluminium sealing washers looked to be perfect condition when removed, so, I dressed their surfaces up using a fine file and similar emery cloth, and refitted them instead of using the new bigger diameter copper ones, that worked for me.

That's 26 ft lbs in old money.

The rears are likely copper or aluminium due to the material of the caliper.

According to the online manual below it should be 38Nm or 28 ft lbs.
