I doubt they’ll fit the current model GTI though, with the current Polo being larger than the previous generation model. If you put the previous generation GTI mats in your car, there’d probably be quite a lot of space around the edge of the mats in the footwell, plus the fastenings on the mats are unlikely to line up with the fastenings in the carpet on the floor. I can measure the mats if you’d like me to.

It may be saving a few pennies, but you add up all them pennies just on the mats alone, and VW are saving thousands of pounds, it's in their interest to save money. Many cars are designed by the accounts department. Their not worried that you have missed out on your red piping around your mats.

@Logan_Hunter; part no. of the carpet mats with red piping in my previous generation Polo GTI is 6R2 863 011 WMS. I’ve measured them and details are as follows;

A; driver’s mat: 61 cm
A; front passenger mat: 62cm
A; rear footwell mat: 44.5cm

B; driver’s mat: 41.5cm
B; front passenger mat: 46.5cm
B; rear footwell mat: 48cm

C; driver’s mat: 39.5cm
C; front passenger mat: 40cm

Front mats; Distance between the centre point of the stud fixing hole
Driver’s mat: 29cm
Front passenger mat: 30cm

My dealer was kind enough to promise my free rubber mats for aw polo ... well he didn't lie I have rubber mats except they are for previous gen polo. (AHoles never going there again.) it mostly fit except for mounting holes in front and rear mats don't fit at all.

As per my post above from Thursday when @Logan_Hunter asked me for the part no. of my mats; I thought they’d be different as the current Polo is larger than the previous generation car. We wanted an odd shaped carpet around our front door. we went out purchased a couple of yards of carpet, took it home, made a cardboard templet, marked the back and cut it out, took it to the carpet binders, they asked what colour we wanted for the edging and within a couple of days they had finished. They had red binding and wool type cotton in stock.
They could remove your black binding and cotton then replace with red.
I'm going down there and ask if they could stitch on a rubber heel guard as my mats show very slight dimpling already where my heels rub.

They’ll tailor the mats to the customer’s requirements - mat colour, colour of edging and stitching and heel pad. You can also add a logo to the mats - some Golf owners on golfgtiforum.co.uk and vwroc.com forums have bought these mats (they’ve said they’re very good quality) and had a ‘GTI’ or ‘R’ logo added to the front mats. @Logan_Hunter; if you want a set of carpet mats with red edging for your GTI+, this might be the solution.

Looked at the recommended site "carmats4you" if you spend over £40.00 they will send them out post free.
The thing is, if you have a set of mats with black stitching, you will get them changed over from black to red edging for about £15.00 or less, as they work on the amount of inches they cover.
They don't charge you for the carpets themselves

Had my GTI+ in for minor warranty work yesterday - I have a chirpy/squeaky rattle that is definitely external and seems to be suspension related. I only hear it below 25mph, and most prominently between 5mph and 15mph, especially under light deceleration/light braking, on most road surfaces. It is hardly noticeable with just me in the car, but with the wife and 2 kids in, it is a little louder and more frequent.

I was worried that with the wet weather and only one occupant to come out with me, the fault wouldn't be replicated. I took the master tech out and when I could hear it initially, he apparently couldn't. Eventually, he heard it over speed bumps and was convinced that it was 2 rubber bushes within the suspension system squealing as they rub over each other.

I also asked about the "mooing" of the brakes when you're lightly braking in reverse, citing that i'd heard there was a software update with brake pad change. He was aware of the software update and even though he couldn't replicate the fault as it was peeing it down and it only happens in the dry, he was happy to apply the software update.

The software update takes an astonishing 95 mins to download and apply (are they using a dial-up modem?) and then the squeaky rattle fix is injecting a silicone grease between the 2. So I had a 3 hour walk into Sunderland, around Wearmouth and back to kill time.

The software update was applied for the mooing brakes (no mention of the brake pads being replaced, so i'd assume not - as it's been wet all the way home and today, not sure whether the fix is effective or not until I try reversing into a space in the dry.

The silicone injection fix didn't work, the master tech was aware it hadn't worked as they'd had it out for a test drive. The car's booked in a week on Tuesday for a few days to do some more in depth work - likely some serious suspension work if it isn't something as simple as a dodgy shock absorber.

Anyone else got this chirpy rattle?

Here's a list of faults and Garage Solutions to Date:

REAR BRAKE CLUNK WHILST REVERSING:

Replaced Rear Brake Pads

Carried out software update to ABS

Seems like problem 'solved'- To early to be sure.

RATTLE FROM FRONT SUSPENSION:

Replaced n/s/f Shock Aborber

Replaced Top Mount and Bearing

I think it's worked but time will tell.

Total Time spent in the Garage : 11 Days so far!!

I am sure I can now hear subtle “creeky” sound from rear suspension, especially when
going over a road bumps. Will wait to see if it gets any louder before taking it back to the garage.

Any more faults and I am going down the route of rejecting the car. It's a pity though, this
car is fantastic in terms of performace,comfort and usability. Just poor quality components and build..

Time to look at Hyundai I30 N and the upcoming Hyundai I20 N with 5 year warranty compared to
VW 3 year warranty. I can see now why VW no longer offer maufacturers Extended Warrany!

I have had My GTI+ plus since May 2019, having ordered in June of 2018 , 11 months delay!! My current mileage is 1600.
I have similar problem with my GTI as per Jacdoor. Initially the dealer changed n/s/f top mount bearing and found the problem still not solved.They than changed
the shock absorber and declared problem solved. Pick the car last night from the dealer( seven days spent in the garage!!) and after five minutes or so of driving ,the metallic noise was back, this time much louder . One can hear this noise at 1mph so its not speed dependant and regardless of smooth or rough road surface.The noise is always their.
I guess back to square one again.Will re-book with the garage and let you guys know of the outcome. This is a poor reflection on the part of VW 's built quality.

In the meantime, may I say,a very big thank you to all the forum members for their contribution to we all love 'Cars'. I have learnt a lot in the past 11 months since I first placed Gti order .

Could be a similar thing to mine in terms of noise, frequency, mine's a bit squeakier - which could be rubber bushes squealing in VW's set up, but apparently they were greased, so shouldn't be squealing.
