Just a thought, anyone looked at relocating the GTI battery to the front so that the spare wheel can be flipped the other way up, allowing the boot floor to be put in the lower position?

Looking under the hood of my GTI there is a fair amount of room where I'm sure the battery could go, where VW has now put the battery isolator. I remember seeing a picture of an aftermarket air intake for the Polo AW GTI with the battery right next to it. So I'm pretty sure the relocation has been done before.

There's got to be a reasonable need for the battery to be in the boot rather than under the bonnet like the rest of the Polo range with the 1.0TSI lump.

Maybe there's not enough room to be far enough away from the engine and the heat dissipated from it.

The image I'm referring to is here https://progressiveparts.com/leyo-motor ... 019-nti-01 3rd image.

Maybe there isn't room for it with the stock air intake in place?

If you hover over the image with your mouse you will see that the image is of a Tiguan not a polo so i am not sure it has been done before. Hope this doesn't disappoint too much.

Good spot, I didn't notice. No disappointment here as I find the boot space sufficient, still more than the last-gen polo I had, and even in that I never had the boot floor in the lowered position.

Sorry to digress - - any recommendations for a non-VW plastic boot tray for the latest model?
