they're not polo gti rx2 split rims as he mentioned in on the page (plus they're only 14")...but from closer inspection they don't look bbs to me, there's no bbs stamp, the finish doesn't look bbs, they just don't look BBS. I don't see why they'd be a £1400 option either if they're not actually rx2 splittes, they certainly don't look anything special, maybe he's confused....

Nah, I've seen these too, was going to bid until closer inspection... I know that in Germany (may be Europe) they did a Mk4 Polo GTI but I'm not sure what the wheels we on them. As Prash has pointed out there are several things that don't sound that they are genuine...they are 14", not split-rims (with the diamond polished lip) and they don't have the BBS logo embosses on the inner wheel...I would therefore conclude they are not genuine MkV Polo GTI wheels!

i'm pretty sure the mk4 polo gti that wasn't sold here in the uk has exactly the same wheels as our mk5's, rx2 split rims :)

Cheers Prash for clarifying that! I don't suppose you know what difference were between the two? other than the body shape? I heard that the MkIVs had Xenons too...

sorry thats about all I remember really, the wheels and it having the same engine. Saw some information about it on a webpage somewhere, looed like the 16valve but with the bbs wheels, and probably the usual slightly uprated, lowered suspension etc. But a MkIV with xenons..now thats cool :)

oo, just found a page with some pics... http://www.geocities.com/VWPoloG40/pologti.html

the mk4 gti was on sale in germany with the mk5 gti wheels

it had a 1.6 16v engine which had 120bhp

the mk5 gti has the same engine but has a little more power 125bhp

all mk5 gti's come with xenons and air con, later models come with climate control

Mk4's never had HID's, just to clear that up.

These wheels on eBay could be made by BBS, btw. Not all BBS wheels are nice. Only the sweet ones get the name brand badge...

but your car is red.................. JOKE and NOT sarcastic

Seriously - handy to know I'll have to make sure all the toys are there when I go hunting for one - only so much 60bhp livin that I can put up with sighs "2005 I'll go looking"

Glad to see i'm not the only one with half the car missing - the way i look at it air con only saps the power anyway!

Is yours an import dubpolo?

Also, on the wheel front... I think i'm definately in the market for some new ones. Had a company in Milton Keynes look at mine and they want £125  each for a bare metal refurb! Unfortunately it looks like all 4 need some welding doing, so i've finally got an excuse to change them  .. It just goes to show - if you're in the market for a gti, make sure the alloys are perfect  unless you're planning on changing them
