new Touareg torchlight, which poweroutlet now for my mk4?

Post by Christian6N »

Juhu!

Today i bought the new Torch from VW for my mk4. It is instead of the cigarette heater.
But when i tried to put it into my power outlet it made a short circuit and burned the fuse.
Has anybody here converted his/her poweroutlet so that that can´t happen again and the torch has better contact to the minus in the power outlet?

help!help!

Hi Christian,

That happened to me too when Josh plugged his torch in my car. I vaguely remember telling him several times that it would blow the fuse, but when that man is moving, he's hard to stop...

Anyway.

The Mk5 outlet should work, as they have no problem at all. Haven't tried it yet though...

Hi Alex!

Yeah, i can remember Josh telling me that he tried this in a mk4 polo before and that he burned the fuse in this car, but i dunno the name any more of the mk4 driver....So it was you.
What do you think Alex, will the mk5 Power Outlet fit into our mk4 Polos without any bigger Problems?

Btw, on yesterdays VW Show was a red mk4 with also RL-..-.. from the neatherlands
Do you know him?

Thx.

Cheers

Hmm... Don't think I know him. I managed to forget all about Verl-Kaunitz so I missed it completely - did see your pics though, excellent!

I don't really know if the Mk5 part will fit, but if it's not too expensive it may be worth the try.

Huhu!

Yeah next Sunday i am at the nothseea again on a vw show, together with Rene. I will ask him if i (as his electrican) may try to take his poweroutlet out of his mk5 and try to fix it into my mk4 Polo.....first i must try if the torchlight fits exactly into his poweroutlet.
if both fits good i´ll buy a mk5 outlet and then this is done completly.

Thx and please greet conny, thx.

Yeah it fits.
After trying this in Renes mk5 Polo i found out i need his Power Outlet. It fits exactly in the mk5 Power-Outlet, but when the Torchlight sticks in the Power Outlet you can close the little cover over it in the dashboard ;-)
Thats the fu..ing mk5 s**t. *smile*

So i bought the PowerOutlet and the red lighted Ring around it an i tried it today.
Fits exactly 1:1 in the mk4 Polo.
Take your mk4 Power-Outlet out and put the mk5 Power-Outlet in and the Torchlight fits 1:1 without making a short circuit like the mk4 outlet does.

In the red Light-Ring already is a little lamp, so just take a few centimeters of wire and take 58b from the windowswitches and the other wireend put on the Light-Ring from the Power-Outlet and it shines red.
Also you can leave your green Outlet, it is the same, but then you have to buy a liottle lamp and a socket for it for a few cents from you fu..ing VW Dealer.

U need these Parts:

Looks realy good and when you don´t need the cigarette lighter buy yourself those Parts and the Torchlight and you will see.......it is very useful. In the last 8Years of driving my mk4 i never needed the cigarette lighter, but i often needed a little torchlight......*argh**hmpf*

Alex...

Yeah, sorry for blowing your fuse... You did tell me numerous times beforehand

Glad it was only the fuse though... That would have been fantastic wouldn't it... Me with a split HT lead and you with a blown ECU or something

Christian...

You are amazing! 8)

You first have to take out the ashtray, disconnect the wireloom from the poweroutlet and then take out the Part where the poweroutlet in fixed in.
This one:

Then you have to unlock/unhook ......i believe two....flukes from the green light plasticring.
It is hard to describe, but when you see the back of this Dashpart you´ll see how it is hooked.
It is easy, i promise you.
