Having ordered and used a cheap knockoff auto light switch for about a week, I've realised it makes a lot of compromises in functionality and comfort to do just the one thing - switch headlights on in the dark. If you're interested, here's my take on (this particular) knockoff auto light switches:
- Build quality is poor (although you won't be using it much due to the auto function)
- Uses parking lights as daytime lights instead of the car's built-in daytime lights
- Module is not straight in the dash, e.g. "Auto" text is crooked and "0" is off-centre (6C switch is a slightly different design to 6R - thanks to iichel for the info)
- Interior dimming has no effect on module LEDs, always at full brightness
- Start-stop-function causes headlights to briefly turn off when car starts up, leading other drivers to think you are flashing your headlights at them
- Because the car isn't coded for auto lights, delayed light turn off (and coming home/leaving home lights) cause the door chime to ring
All fairly niggly and annoying faults just to get your headlights on automatically.

So I wonder - what is the most cost-effective way of getting more or less OEM functionality and features without all the drawbacks of the knockoff switches? (Paging iichel/Ciclo?
