The standard speakers are rubbish. I installed focals. No need to add an amplifier either. The work brilliant of the standard head unit.

You put these in the front of your Polo? I'm guessing they dropped into the doors as per existing existing speakers. In terms of the tweeters, did these drop drop in the pillars either side of the windscreen ? Do you have to modify anything?

What have you done for the rear of the car?

All info appreciated....

Installation was done by pros and not myself.
Back and front was factory fit. Drill all rivets of the existing speaker and rivet the new ones in. Connectors are same as VW factory connectors.
The tweeter in the pillars needed a little fabrication to install. You may need to cut a bit of the existing tweeter housing in the pillar as the focals were a bit thicker, then glue it in place.
Too be honest though I would not use focals again. Do not get me wrong they are big improvements over stock speakers but I have heard my friends polo with Hertz all around and a 4ch amp to run it which sounded better for about the same price range.

Hertz are very good speakers for the price, I changed all the OEM speakers of my last car, a Mazda 2 2010, for Hertz with diy adapters and was a great upgrade for less that 80€.
You can buy adapter rings and connectors for the speakers in ebay and use "normal" speakers in a VW. For Mazda they don't are easy to find, motive for the diy ;)

I've not dealt with Hertz speakers before, can anyone recommend model numbers for front and rear ? Thanks again, MJ

On my old Mazda I used the speakers of dieci line, DSK160.3 on the front (has tweeters) and DCX 160.3 on the rear but this is almost the cheapest line up of Hertz ;)
