Let’s do a dyno run in a GTi

Today I decided to do a dyno run. Well... two in fact.
First run was stock standard, no modifications, stock intake, stock ehxaust, Orlen 95 octane fuel.
Second run is with a box. No other mods.

Red curve is the power curve.
Red numbers are the power numbers in KM (Polish for HP or PS)
208 PS standard (divide by 1,36 to get kW) so its 153 kW
228 PS with a box. (168 kW)

Blue numbers and curves are the torque.

What box is on there to only add 20ps and 33Nm? Is that one of those TUV approved boxes that is very cautious with the power increase?

Interesting to see how much earlier peak power kicks in on the Boxed run, but also, power for both runs fall off a cliff above 5750rpm - which begs the question...why do VW have the car change up at 6100rpm when hammering it?

It's annoying that if you put your foot down hard at 45mph, the box will kick back to 5500rpm in 2nd where the car has run out of puff and then change up to 3rd, rather than skipping 2nd and going straight to 3rd - dumb programming of DSG changes by VW.

I'd be interested to see a dyno of a 2018 GTI+ (no GPF) vs a 2019 one (with GPF). When I drive the wife's 2019 GTI on occasion, hers feels like mine does in Normal mode, mine is so much livelier in the mid range.

Yes it is. All TUV approved. I will analyse the dyno graph with the company and see if more power can be achieved from this unit and staying within manufacturers limits.

I think VW went the easy route to limit the power on the Polo and just limited the boost at certain level. They left the DSG alone, so yes... it's really irritating when the downchange happens like you mentioned it. Probably not many people drive at very high speeds, but it is even worse at the change between 4th and 5th gear which happens at around 195 km/h (120 mph) A remap can solve this problem, but then we know about other consequences.

GTIs built before Aug 18 didn't have them as standard. Although depending on where you are, you can do a delete without being in trouble with the law. Mine came without a d it feels somewhere between 5 and 10% more powerful than the wife"s 2019 model.
