Would you be able to share how you did it and with what software tools e.g. VCDS, OBD11 etc? I'm sure plenty of people here would like to activate voice control function without paying VW hundreds of pounds.

I've seen voice activation codes being sold on ebay for £93, but still apparently needing dealer activation via Dealership ODIS system.

I've also read about a VCDS activation of the option, but this still apparently requires an official code to be bought and dealer installed to actually make it work.

If there's a way of self activation either with a bought code or even better, being able to activate it without paying for the software, that would be great.

Thanks!
It is not easy to do. You still need a license but this will be gone IF you get a software update through Odis. You can't use any regular tools to activate voice control. However for performance monitor i need VCP.

I can do this remotely, but i still need to fix my pm inbox

Yes please, it would be fantastic! And also the performance display :)
Thought the performance display was standard on every GTI?

If you have VCP i can do it remotely. Performance monitor is also a license (FeC) like appconnect, voicecontrol, bluetooth, navigation etc

So I'd still need to buy one of those licences at £93 or whatever, but if it isn't applied officially, VW Central has no record that I have it and so would wipe it if I got an ODIS update when next in for warranty work or servicing if there were any official updates to apply and I'd have to get my license applied again?

I have the performance monitor and app connect - standard on UK GTI+.

I don't have VCP - are there any cheap clones out there to do the job?

Just reapply the voicecontrol again :)

You only need VCP if you want performance monitor.

Apc (all purpose cleaner) couple of brushes and a microfibre towel .if you have a hosepipe with a shower setting that would help, if not get an empty pump spray bottle & fill with water. don’t over do it on the electrics with the hose though, tbh because it’s a new car a good degreaser (apc) is adequate.

1. If Necessary spray light mist of water
2. Spray apc
3. Agitate Dirt with brush
4. Rinse with light spray of water
5. Wipe clean and dry with microfibre towel
6. If you like you can use a plastic/ rubber dressing to make everything look slick /however again it’s not necessary being a newer car I’m sure the plastic don’t need it. would be better for an older car with dry older plastics.

Take your time do small areas at a time for best results

If none of this makes sense I’ve added a link to a demonstration on YouTube

You probably won’t need to go all out like this guy did but it should give you a rough idea hope this post helps

Thanks. It actually works quite well.
The increase in downforce can be felt while driving.
On the up side, the rear of the car is much more stable and is not as twitchy at speed like it was before.
On the down side, the top speed has reduced by about 6-7 mph.

6-7 mph seem like a lot for a small bit of plastic lool

That small bit of plastic creates quite a bit of drag... but that is why it works well as far as the downforce is concerned.
On the other hand, weather the car tops out at 158 mph or 151 mph is almost purely academical.
I guess some additional power will overcome the drag :)
