New Volkswagen Recall for Volkswagen Polo

Post by fran_92 »

Due to incorrectly closed non-return valves in the vacuum lines, the oil may be sucked into the brake booster, damaging its internal membrane.

This may lead to the failure of braking power assistance, increasing the risk of an accident.

The Volkswagen Polo models affected by this recall were manufactured between 22 September 2019 and 06 February 2020.

Volkswagen recall code: 47P7

I have older Polo than so I should be fine. So this will be a pure offtopic. I just want to share it. :D

I worked for multiple automotive companies and I took a look at that sites you posted. I was looking for cars I know they might have a problem. Funny enough there is recall for older car made by german brand for possible fire hazard risk. I worked for that supplier and that company was not making that part to costumer standard and even better they were lying about it. To be fair that standard was pile of **** and it was not possible to make it because this two metals don't weld together - product was meant to be made cheap while keeping its design mostly the same with other models of this brand. So they could be salvaged if they turned out NOK somewhere in process. When I was leaving a few years ago they were testing modification to this part from aluminium and welds were perfect. Sadly everything made before that was possible hazard and I was expecting them to fail in less that 10 yrears. :D

The website appears to refer to vehicle type 6R in this article:
Type / number of model: Type-approval number: e1*2001/116*0510*, Type: 6R

So if the recall relates to Type 6r cars built between 22/09/2019 and 06/02/2020, presumably the recall relates to the VW Polo Vivo model (and Vivo based models such as the Polo Vivo Maxx) and not the current AW Polo.

This is also what I was thinking, I've emailed my Dealer to see if they can clarify the situation, but at the moment I don't know when or if I'll get a reply.

I think that it is for AW model and the webpage is wrong, I have seen the international press and I have find another link from a German web. It seems that it just affects to cars with engine code DSGB (1.0 liter 80PS)

Thanks for the additional link to the German website and it confirms the GTI is exempt from the recall:

"is only about vehicles with the 80-hp one-liter petrol engine (engine code "DSGB")."

That said 80hp (60kw) in AW form isnt available in SA either since the AW Polo starts from 70KW (93hp??). There is also a non-turbo version of the AW in SA and it is also excluded from recall.

Yes it is, in Portugal at least a 80 hp version was available during some time. Was a very basic version without factory extras and very limited options.
