6C Reversing Camera and Headunit

Hi,
I’m looking to install a reversing camera into my 6C.
Haven’t deceived on the badge or the number plate camera.
My question is am I able to install this onto my composition - 3Q0035820B (no nav and mute button)
Or do I need new a new unit?

I'd say get the badge camera if you are going to do it.

The bumper camera gets covered in road dirt in two mins in the winter.

I'm looking to upgrade to the badge camera.

i upgraded my unit to a 3q0035842B so i could possibly get the app connect upgrade .

it does seem like a more common unit imho.

I’ve also toyed with the idea of fitting a RVC, but I’m put off by the possibility of needing to change the head unit. I assume there is a label on the back of the unit, but Is there any way to tell which version is fitted without physically removing it?

I thought this may be the case, I will get one once lockdown is eased. Yes you can find the version in System info in one of the settings menus.

ive fitted one that i got off aliexpress.

its a emblem cam. all fully working with the 842b unit

just stuck with an issue where it will need resetting unless you turn ignition on as soon as the car is unlocked

I have seen your post which is what made me want to get the standard bumper camera.

Thank you marco-polo. I found the version number in the System info. Unfortunately like you I have the 820B unit, so it looks like I can’t just get a plug’n play camera.

Yeah I was annoyed I had this unit when I got it but I should’ve researched more.
VwRetrofit in Redditch I heard are great. Supply and fit of a 42b unit was around £550.
Due to covid they’re coding remotely if you aren’t near and sending new units. Relatively easy to fit.
