ST X Coilovers [SOLVED]

Post by Sam R83 »

Hi hope you are well.

I am considering putiing coilovers on my GTI+ and was wondering if all GTIs had the electronic dampening on them from the factory?

If so do i need a electronic damping cancellation kit? Or is there a way around not needing it.

Thaaanks :D

All UK GTI and GTI+ have the 2 stage damping.

Thanks mate, you think it would just be best to put lowering springs on then? Because the cancelation kit is near enougn £300

as there is a few members here locally in South Africa with H&R and Eibach.

The H&R provides the lowest ride height, looks like coilovers. Mixed Reviews on Ride Comfort some have the confusion around part numbers.
28711-1 meant for the 1.0 TSI can also be mounted on the GTI according to H&R, Lower look but quite firm and bouncy.
H&R 28711-2 dedicated for the GTI some have reported they are happy with the springs.

Eibach Pro-Kit, slightly lower then stock ride height. Close to OEM ride. Many have switched from H&R to Eibach due to ride firmness.

H&R look the best! Eibach is safer option.

I have driven in the H&R fitted to a GTI, the springs feel very floaty at low speeds and the ride feels soft until springs reaches it compression limit then hard bump is felt.body roll feels like it is more flat but i feel like it removes some of the direct sporty feeling you get from the stock suspension. i think after market shocks is needed to make it feel like it handles on rails.
