Problems with BCM MAX Upgrade

Hello my Polo-friends,

I want to replace the original BCM 6Rxxx087 against the 7Exxx090 but i have some problems.

I am working with VCDS.
So far I replaced the two CAN-wires and took over the codes from 6Rxxx087 to 7Exxx090

1st problem:
Failures with clamp 30 from 09-central-electric and a wrong-coding-failure in the 19-gateway. Battery-regulation is disabeld in the List! Where is the problem? Maybe I have to code something by "coding II" in the gateway - here I need a special security-access.

2nd problem:
The Tailgate don't want to open. "Tailgate-lock short-circute to ground". With the 6Rxxx87 BCM the tailgate-lock is working. In my autoscan the failure is missing, I am sorry, I only noticed it later.

3rd problem:
The cornering-light doesen't works with the 7Exxx090.

Can you please help me? Is the T6-BCM brokken or am I stupid?.

Well, what you need to do:
- Get the coding of your 087 BCM + gateway + gateway installation list
- Make adaptations of BCM and gateway
- Place the 7E0 BCM and paste coding + adaptations into the BCM and gateway and restore gateway instalation list
- Check 61 battery monitor on gateway
- Code 61 battery monitor to 000000
- Remove 61 battery monitor from gateway installation list
- Match keys
- Verify all is working

Now you need to adapt the wiring of your BCM 087 to the 7E0 BCM Max.
You indeed need new wires for the CAN network of the instrument cluster.
But you need to do more. Depending on the current equipment you need to add another set of wiring.
And the you need to code the BCM Max for the new wiring configuration.

But the tailgate which does*t working is the bigger Problem. Have you some electrical-plans from the T6? I have them only from the 6R.

In order to get help you have to specify all the wirings and coding you have made. Without this informations no one can help you.

If you search on forums there are many tutorials about how installing a bcm max in a 6R.

Please post an autoscan with the old BCM 087 installed. Look in the 'logs' folder of the VCDS program.

At least the fault in the GW must be gone. Maybe now the opening of the Tailgate works.

The donor car's BCM 090 had a Bluemotion system, which means it had a Battery Monitoring Control Module (61).

Module 61 can be removed from the installation list with the following procedure:

1- Go to Gateway 19, installation list, enable 61 (again).
2- Go to Battery monitoring 61 (now enabled), codify to 000000.
3- Come back to Gateway 19, installation list, disable 61.
4- Go to autoscan, click on GW installation list (not on Start), wait the result, clear all DTCs, wait the result ...
Module 61 must have disappeared from the installation list.
5- Check with a new Autoscan (Start button).

But the Tailgate still doesn*t working, and the clamp-30-failure is still available.

ps. I know all the tutorials for BCM Max in this forum, but I didn't found some informations about the tailgate! They describe only the wiring for the light.

- The faults related to terminal 30 will remain until the adaptation wiring for the new BCM is installed. (logically)

- Tailgate (rear lid):
The current BCM coding is correct for it to function properly.
In BCM Adaptation channels, verify that channel 7 has a value = 0
If it has a value = 0 and the tailgate doesn't open, it is highly possible that the microswitch for opening has broken. 6R6827469D ULM

If you want, check again with BCM 087 that the tailgate opening works...

Yeah, the detetion for light-failures (Byte 19) is useless for me. I use LED retrofits

The microswitch is working. I tested it with the diagnosic-tool and at the moment I am driving with the 087 - because the tailgate doesn't want to open with 090.

I think the tailgate-motor V53 gets his current from clamp 30 by the 090, too. So I have to install the other wires and test the Tailgate again.

Your help is pretty usefull.

The BCMs for Transporter (T5.1 - T6), Amarok, 6R have the same current input (+30) assigned for the central locking system (ZV).
It is a +30 power cable that reaches T73a/16, this cable is present in your 6R. (from SB48)

The power cables (in addition to the other signals) for the new BCM that you have to install in the future are only for the lighting system.

Something weird is going on here ... ... maybe it's some adaptation channel.
If you want, post here the values ​​of the adaptation channels of both BCMs ... or check them yourself to find the differences. (remember, the same coding for both BCMs)
