Random Aircon activation

Post by monkeyhanger »

Hi everyone,

Over the last week my Polo has been randomly putting the aircon on mid journey.

My 2018 GTI+ has manual aircon. In these warmer months, I have the blower set to the dash blowing at me, rather than to windscreen (vent dial set to the right), and if ambient temp is under 15C, aircon is switched off, with temp dial on minimum.

Numerous times over the last week, the aircon has switched itself mid journey, and even on more than once on a journey when switched off after it has put itself on.

Not a bother for me, as the car's going tonight, just wondering if it happens to anyone else. Only reason for it putting itself on would be if the car has a humidity sensor and a threshold is crossed, or light sensor detects slight fogging?

Sad to hear the car is going to a new home but no, I havent had the same experience with the aircon although mine is on all the time anyway.

I noticed that if I send air to the windscreen and/or set to high speed the A/C turn on automatically but never noticed mid journey but I'm not using ventilation that much.

Yeah, I love the Polo GTI+, but I need a bigger car in the household, the wife will still have her 2019 GTI+. We're getting a Labrador soon, and rear legroom for my 2 kids is a it tight behind me as I have the seat about 1" before the back end of the rails.

I'm getting a 10.5 months old Audi A4 Avant "40" (2.0 TDI 190ps), S-Tronic (DSG under another name - another car model that doesn't come in manual in the spec wanted, or i'd have bought manual), Quattro S-Line. 10k miles on the clock and Manhattan Grey metallic. Not a scratch on it.
