Missing screw, firewall retaining clip / washer & more

Afternoon everyone, over the past few weeks when cleaning my car I’ve noticed a couple bits missing lol, i first noticed a screw missing from the front passenger side inner wheel arch guard.

On another occasion when giving the engine bay a wipe down I noticed that one of the retaining clips for the Felt lining on the firewall Was missing & also a cable or pipe was hanging loosely near the turbocharger. so I decided to secure it in its place & potentially stopping it from getting cooked on the turbo.

yesterday I decided to give the car a vacuum and noticed that behind the footbrake pedal, where normally you’d find a rubber cap or stopper of some sort but it looks like it’s missing, however I’m not to sure as I don’t have another AW polo nearby to check, So I’d very much appreciate if someone could help and verify this.

after these minor bits missing It leaves me wondering what else is missing or not secured lol

I was under the impression it wasn’t fitted at all however I’ll go out and have a look to be sure it’s not bedded into the tyre

My foot brake pedal has some play in it (side to side movement) - do you have this?

I wondered if something is missing from the pedal housing

I haven't raised this with the dealer yet

I’ve just checked my pedal & it seems to be secure no excessive side to side movement but right at the very top there is a nut and bolt, so I’m guessing in your case it needs to be tightened. you should get that sorted ASAP in case it gets worse.

Regarding the carpet cut out behind the brake pedal, we have a round dark plug the size of a 50p coin where your gap is. I presume this just connects the carpet to the shell of car. Looks like yours is missing definitely.
We had some electric cables in engine bay bound together with a perished elastic band, removed it and replaced with cable ties.
Apart from a rattle coming from the drivers door on certain road surfaces our 2019 gti build quality so far is ok.

Third picture down from the top, that might not be missing maybe only fitted on some model variants, though I did buy and fit one to a "missing location" on my wife's 2015 6C Polo.
Fourth picture down, make sure that when you next look at this that you can see a nylon insert in that square hole that was cut in the wing, when I looked at that picture I got the impression that there was no insert in that hole and on the assembly line, if that was the case, there is no where to screw that missing screw into.

If you don't want to waste your time, in your situation, I would make a list up of all the parts I needed, get my dealer to order them in, then fit them my self as I just can not be bothered with items I've bought having parts missing that if I make my dealer/shop sort things out will "cost" me a few days of faffing about getting things sorted out.

For instance, my wife's 2015 Polo came with "manual locking" door apertures on one side of the car missing, no terminal post covers on the battery and something else, I found the part numbers online, phoned, ordered and paid, then two days later, when passing my dealer, picked these parts up at minimum inconvenience to us.

Getting an air tube replaced, that should not have been fitted to a car of that age (an update going back a few months), took me three visits and almost ended up with nothing being done and job completed as I got a phone call asking "why is your car in for warranty work " - actually to complete what was started two visits previously as the part had finally arrived from Germany, that order was either messed up, or someone else got the original new part or ???

I can handle fitting wrong or missing parts and funding them, there is no way that individual's actions will change a sloppy car manufacturer and VW Group are not the only ones with sloppy quality systems.

Thanks Alan appreciate you checking behind your brake pedal, yeah I thought it was something along them lines I’ll go and order one when my local dealership parts department is open, it’s currently still closed. Yeah apart from the couple bits I’ve mentioned , overall I’m fairly happy with the car.

Yeah the plastic insert is missing from the cut out square, I was gonna do exactly what you said at some point, just order the bits & fit them myself.

Your 100% right you will always get sloppy workers having a lazy day lol and sometimes it’s that mentality who cares it’s only a screw or a clip ,they’ll never know it was me lol

I found a cable not attached properly in the front near side wheel arch what I sorted out myself by pushing the retaining clip fully in.

I wonder last year when they was behind in the production of the polo they were rushing them about.

Possibly, and if so, the same could be happening again now if there’s a backlog of orders to clear as a result of the recent temporary factory closure due to Covid-19 and lockdown.

Even during normal times, things will occasionally get missed though.
