Pressed Metal Number Plates
Just picking up a few cosmetic accessories for my new GTI and was looking for pressed metal number plates. Has anyone found anywhere selling ones with all the legal requirements? (Kite Mark, bsau, supplier name along bottom of plate).

Found a couple of sites (there are others) that state their plates are completely road legal and comply with BSAU145d

Slightly off topic, but when I bought my first brand new car way back in 1980, it was fitted with pressed metal plates as were the standard plates fitted by most dealers at the time. To have Perspex plates (the standard fitment these days), you paid extra. Now people are buying pressed metal plates to replace the standard Perspex plates. How times have changed.

Re: Pressed Metal Number Plates
Indeed... when I bought a Jetta CLi back in 1990 the standard thing was black door handles and black rear view mirrors. Colour coding was the thing to do. Now cars come all colour coded and the owners either paint their mirrors or stick some foil on them to be blackSRGTD wrote: Sun Jun 21, 2020 12:14 am Found a couple of sites (there are others) that state their plates are completely road legal and comply with BSAU145d

On our Polos, we have this colour coded strip above the grill below the bonnet. Again, some owners paint it black. Meanwhile back in 1990 the fashion thing was to get a colour coded "eyebrow" or in german "boseblick"
In Poland all number plates are pressed metal only. No other plates are allowed.
