Turning off climate control

Post by Jalapeno Wolf »

Hi All,

Newbie to this forum. Recently picked up my 20 plate GTI+. Very impressed with it so far. Still running it in so haven't been able to fully test it :P

Something I have noticed. There doesn't appear to be a way to completely switch off the climate control unit. ie. no fans running at all. Anyone else noticed this? Am I missing something?

I just turn the fan speed down until it shows OFF on the screen.

Yes, you must be missing an instructions manual :)

🤣

In all the cars I’ve owned that have had air con or climate control, I never turn it off. At those times of the year you don’t need the cooling effect, the dehumidifying effect can be useful.

I can't even work out how to turn the fan speed down!

Only option seems to be to turn the required temperature up and down.

If you have the optional dual zone climate control, there are + and - signs directly below the climate control LCD display. + = increase fan speed and - = reduce fan speed.

Don’t take this the wrong way, but I’d suggest you refer to the owners manual which will explain the operation of the climate control, plus all the other controls in your car.

One of the first things I do when I get a new car is to go through the manual. Not a very exciting read, but if I’ve spent ££££££‘s on a new car, I want to make sure I know what all the functions are and how they work from day one, rather than discover a ‘new’ feature a couple of years into ownership that I could have been making use of.

Amazing how I managed to not see those -/+ buttons when I drove the car earlier.
I just went out and took a look again and hey presto. All sorted. Climate control is now off. Thanks very much for taking the time to assist. Much appreciated.

I have spent quite some time reading the manual already. I consulted the manual to learn how to use the driving modes and the ACC and the AID etc. etc. For some reason I did not see in the manual an explanation for how to turn the climate control into off.

The reason for wanting to turn the fan speed down and into off manually was because I wanted to listen to the beats audio without the noise of the fans distorting the noise so I can tweak the bass, mid and treble to my liking.

I also like to turn it down sometimes if I am on a phone call.

Most of the time I do tend to leave it in auto. Which is the whole point of upgrading to climate control in the first place really.

Ta.
