Hello all!
Glad I found this great forum on the little but mighty Polo!
Bought a used 2004 Polo 1.9 TDI 100 hp yesterday and when driving at highway speeds at 120 kmh I notice the RPMs are quite high at 3000!! Can anyone with the same engine give some feedback on what the correct RPMs should be at 120kmh? I would think 2500-700 is normal but 3000 is way too high. It almost seems like 5th gear is 4th gear.
My wife had a Skoda 1.9 TDI and her gearing seemed ok with around 2500 RPMs at 5th gear.
Any feedback would be great!!
Thanks Polo people!!

Re: RPMs at 120kmh???
I don't have the 1.9TDi engine but have the 5-speed manual in a 1.2 12V. At 120kmh (74mph) mine sits around 3000-3500RPM (not sure exactly as I'm looking at the road a lot more than my dash at that speed). I have the FQE gearbox and 5th gear seems to be a 1:1 ratio where 4th seems to be a 1:1 ratio in most cars.
Hope that helps
