Changing 6R Speakers

Post by Charrobinsxn »

Hi all,

I want to change the speakers I have in my 6R but don’t know the first thing about them. Would anybody be able to tell me what diameter speaker id need to look for?

Also does anyone know if it’s possible to add speakers into the rear doors where there currently aren’t any?

Any links to useful information or products is welcomed!

TIA x

I followed this video when changing mine:

Speakers are 165mm diameter but get ones specifically for VWs because then they come with the plastic spacer rings.

I used Blam in my car and it came with replacement tweeters which were pretty much plug and play.

I would say that you only need good front speakers. My standard rear speakers are turned off, the fronts are more than enough in such a small car.

When you change the speakers, add some sound deadening to the doors, it makes a huge difference in the bass you’ll get from the speakers.

Do all 6r come with rear speaker wires ready, or do wee need to run our own all the way to the front.

If it was me I'd fit a small headunit amp first.

You will be surprised how much better the oem speakers are once you feed them a little more power.

Vibe do a good one that doesn't need a remote signal but does create one for use with an external amp.
