Alloys

Post by ShockingIce »

Hello everyone!

Looking for alloy wheels as don’t really want my diamond cut ones to get ruined. I really like the Pretoria wheels but not sure they fit.

What has everyone else got on theirs? Pics too? ;)

I saw this link for Pretoria’s which were cheap

https://cmwheels.com/product/18-vw-golf ... udi-5x112/

Edit: I have a Polo GTI+ 18” alloys. White car so looking for preferably black alloys!

There are a lot less wheels of that fitment and they seem to be more expensive I have seen these advertised for the polo but they were the wrong fitment when the question was asked. Best of luck with your search

The black Borbet Y seem to be a popular choice for the GTI in 18inch but personally I got RC-Design RC32 in 17inch but they also do 18inch both in black.

Have you thought about getting the stock Brescias powder coated?

I did but the car is on PCP and would rather them not be funny about it. Plus I was sorta looking for a black set of wheels anyways!

What alloys you got on yours?

Those Pretoria replicas from CM Wheels won’t fit the Polo as they have a PCD (Bolt pattern) of 5x112. Wheels for the Polo need to have a PCD of 5x100.

Edit; Oops! missed Robint’s post where he said PCD needed to be 5x100.

Also, if you do change your wheels, don’t forget to inform your insurer as it’s considered to be a modification for insurance purposes

I've got Brescias on mine on mine too when it finally arrives
You make a good point on refurbing, I wonder what would happen if you VT the car with black refurbed wheels rather than getting them recut

I imagine if you were trading in to a garage they wouldn't care but unsure if that would be the same if you VT'd

There maybe something in the PCP small print outlining what is and isn’t permitted. I dare say with wheels, cosmetically they need to be the same as they left the factory. So if the wheels were originally diamond cut, then they would need to still be diamond cut at the time the car is handed back at the end of the PCP term or earlier VT.

This combination of colour and wheels is the best I've seen on any Polo so far - better than standard options. Think the lack of polished alloy and full black is better and makes the car look more sporty.
