Pagid front discs

I am in the middle of discussions with a supplier about the correct front discs for my Sept 2002 9n.

Pagid 50317 was originally indicated but the seller's online guide suggested these are not suitable. Pagid 50317 are 18m thick with a height of 34.9mm. Outer diameter is 239mm. The code is 1LM/1ZN but I cannot find any such brake codes on the vehicle.

I measured the old Febi discs and they are 22mm thick (approx) with a height of about 36 and a bit mm and 256mm diameter.

I then looked up on brakebook to find https://www.brakebook.com/bb/pagid/en_G ... owResult=1

Brakebook indicates 53953 as replacing 50314 which have a thickness of 22mm and a height of 36.9mm (53953 is 36.7mm). Outer diameter is 256mm. 1ZG,1LR,1ZJ,1LQ / 1ZF codes are indicated but as above I cannot find any matching codes on labels in the boot, owner's guide, etc.

The seller is saying I need Pagid 50317 based on my VIN but I'm not convinced.

To get the PR number for my brakes I had to pay the £7 for an hour's access to VW Erwin and downloaded "vehicle specific information" which gives an 8 page list detailing everything that was fitted to the car along with the relevant PR number. On my 2002 1.2 AZQ and 2008, 1.4 BUD the front discs have been 256mm in diameter and 22mm thick with a height of 37mm~.

2002 1.2 AZQ had the PR number 1LQ and 2008 1.4 BUD had the PR number 1LR for "Ventilated disc brakes, front" with both having the PR number 1KB for "Drum brakes in rear".

From what you've said and looking on brakebook myself, Pagid 50137 isn't correct but Pagid 53953 is.

If it's worth anything ECP has one of their "sales" going on at the moment with 40% off brakes.

I'd think that ECP would offer the correct Pagid 256mm discs as one of the offering if you stuffed in your reg number, my wife's old 2002 Polo 1.4 16V 75PS 5Speed had FSIII front callipers and so 256mm discs.

A trip to your local friendly VW dealer's parts department with a request for a printout of "CAR DATA" for the car with your reg number will give you all the info that can be found elsewhere, and if you are polite FOC. That is the first thing that I have done with all our cars, including my daughter's SEAT Leon Cupra which she bought last August - she was shocked that I could walk into a SEAT dealership with a reg number and come out with that info about her car, but I did.

Edit:- you might find ErWin a walk in the park, or like me with the SEAT version, not too easy to navigate, so blew my £7 with out managing to grab all the circuit diagrams I was wanting - that scared me off that and lead to me later buying official manuals from easymanuals for both my wife's 2015 Polo and my 2011 Audi S4.

Job done. New Pagid discs and pads (with wear sensor) fitted. Already it seems a lot better than the Febi discs I removed.
