I’m looking to do the same for my Sons car, he has a 2014 Polo Match, which doesn’t have steering wheel controls.

I have been told I can get it wired in, ready for a flat bottom multifunction steering wheel like the one in this post, for £120.00 + vat. They can’t guarantee how much functionality there would be, or if the buttons would light up or not, it is all dependent on the model you have.

You also need to make sure the airbag is the same, in that the one you replace it with, must have either 1 charge, or 2 charge airbag, again you’d have to get that checked, so there is a possibility that you would buy the wheel/airbag, and possibly need to get a different one, and they aren’t cheap! There are also 2 types of steering wheel controls, and that’s the same [possible] issue too... ££££

Recently i install Golf 7 Flat bottom R-line Steering wheel on my 6R. Like this one:

You need to add 2 wires, coding and after that, new body control module (only to have working illumination on mfsw buttons) and then, bcm max wiring adaptation, because of that new bcm have a different pins for lights!
