Retrofit MFSW (no CC) to Polo 6C
So today I retrofitted an MFSW to a Polo 6C 1.4 TDI Bluemotion with BCM 6C0937089
The wheel itself and the airbag were re-used.
Preparation:
- Disconnect battery
- Remove the airbag
- Remove upper and lower steering column trim
- Remove BCM
- Remove steering wheel trim.
- The steering wheel was never removed
Needed parts:
Steering wheel trim 6C0419685A with MFSW buttons 6C0959442
Airbag wiring harness 6C0971584C
Wiring
You'll need to add two wires:
T16c/3 LIN to T73c/13 on BCM (MQS on both sides)
T16c/4 +30a to SC14 (MQS on T16c side).
T16c is the connector on the bottom of the slip ring.
T73c is the large connector on BCM, on the side of the centre console (LHD). Check you have pin 13 present.
There is a shortcut to connect the wire to SC14. since this positive wire also goes to several points in the steering column.
I connected it to the positive connection of the high beam stalk (grey/red wire).
Coding
This was a leap into the unknown but I've managed
09 BCM: Byte 15 bit 7 ON
09 BCM: Byte 20 bit 6 OFF
19 Gateway: Byte 1 bit 0 ON

Re: Retrofit MFSW (no CC) to Polo 6C
Yes exactly. No buttons at all
Re: Retrofit MFSW (no CC) to Polo 6C
good day. I have exactly the same car but with cruise control. after all the manipulations you specified, you got only the left buttons that work, which simply repeat the buttons on the right steering column lever. can you tell me what I need to change in the encoding.
BCM 089a with 13 pin

Re: Retrofit MFSW (no CC) to Polo 6C
Yes, this is to be expected since you're using the instructions for a steering wheel without CC for a steering wheel with CC. These instructions are not applicable for your situation. I'm very sorry but I'm afraid I can't help you.
Re: Retrofit MFSW (no CC) to Polo 6C
and one more question what do bytes 15 bit 7, byte 20 bit 6 change? I just have checkboxes without a description

Re: Retrofit MFSW (no CC) to Polo 6C
It is not compatible, only the 6C0937089x and 6C0937090x BCMs are compatible

Re: Retrofit MFSW (no CC) to Polo 6C
Nice one.
But does the steering wheel require coding to illuminate the buttons on the wheel?
I have retrofitted a MFSW on my polo vivo and I am struggling to illuminate the buttons. My BCM which I believe would be used to activate the functions on the wheel is 6q2937049f. (see picd attached)
For now I firstly want to just illuminate the buttons, to work with the low beam lights before I can worry about connecting the functions to a radio.
My instrument cluster does not give any info other than fuel, clock, mileage, oil, battery, airbag, steering, etc. Which I don't necessarily need to use on the buttons. I just want to be able to illuminate the buttons as well as control the aftermarket radio.
What can you advise?

Your polo is very likely a 9N or a 9N3. they do not come with a multifunctional steering wheel. ever. I don't think it is possible to retrofit one, I'm sorry.

Re: Retrofit MFSW (no CC) to Polo 6C
I am still not install that BCM, but that is another problem. I want to ask something about that retrofit.giannis20vt wrote: ↑Sat Jun 05, 2021 3:18 pm
thanks for the answer.
I bought a BCM 6C0937089D, hope it fits without any trouble
My car doesn't have Cruice Control and i am not planning to retrofit it. But i want to have MFSW.
IF i buy a used steering wheel which has buttons for Radio and for CCS is going to work or not ? (i want to operate only the Radio control from the buttons).
Or even i buy i a used steering wheel which has buttons for Radio and for Adaptive Cruise Control is going to work or not ? (i want to operate only the Radio control from the buttons).

Re: Retrofit MFSW (no CC) to Polo 6C
sure, if you install the cruise control with SWaP code it will all work just fine. just make sure you wire it up all correctly.

Re: Retrofit MFSW (no CC) to Polo 6C
That is good news. Just to be sure, i am telling that i am not going to install Adaptive cruise control (or even the CCS) but i will possible buy a MFSW that has buttons for adaptive cruise control, and the Radio buttons are going to operate ?

Re: Retrofit MFSW (no CC) to Polo 6C
Then it makes more sense to install an MFSW without the cruise control buttons. I am unsure what errors the wrong buttons will cause.
