Disappointing Beats System

Post by TheRacingRat »

I’ve always been disappointed with the beats system in my Polo, no where near as good as the Bose system in my Alfa GT. I feel as if the sub isn’t working, so I turn up the music and go to the sub and can feel and hear nothing, and yes it is plugged in! I know it’s a passive sub so not expecting miracles but anyone on here with beats can help me?

What do you expect for what it costs. My advice is to put the balance on the middle of the backseats and turn down the base to below 0. That way it's pretty reasonable

I've never bought into built-in factory audio because the dealer charges you way to much (same as satnav) so always installed after-market products for much less and way better audio too,

With other noise sources experienced in a car’s cabin (e.g. wind, tyre and engine noise, passengers) IMO a car isn’t the best listening environment for listening to music, so the standard audio system in the Polo is fine for me.

I had the upgraded Dynaudio option in my mk6 Golf GTD and was a little disappointed with it. I’m no audiophile, but found l was always adjusting the controls and could never really find the optimum settings for my music preferences, but maybe my expectations were too high 🤔. The chrome edged, Dynaudio logo’d tweeter grilles looked nice though.

I’ve read on other forums that Beats upgrade tends to sound best at higher volumes but can also be quite base-heavy. I’m not into heavy base and my days of listening to music at ear bleeding volumes are long since gone 😅. Also, in a car such as the Polo with hard plastic door cards, I dare say there’s a good chance of increased interior vibrations and rattles in the car if the volume is turned up high.

The 'beats' system is very bass heavy and overpowers the build quality of the car.
Easy to get umpteen rattles and buzzes if you crank it up, so the bass has to be turned right down.
