on only three occasions since having this Polo (5 months) and always just before reversing into my garage.. I just an awful judder/grind noise.
Only first occasion after driving home from picking it up i really though i had mis-judged the width of the car gouged the bodywork.. I stopped immediately and ran to the rear of the car only to find I'm still a foot from the garage opening! It has happened two more times since..
on reflecting on it I realised that it only happens after releasing the handbrake and reversing straight away afterwards. My drive is on a slight incline down so am reversing slightly uphill)
Anyone else had this awful noise? Brake shoes catching or not releasing occasionally?
It hasn't happened every time I put the car away but when it does I think i have scraped the bodywork...

Re: juddering noise on reversing
It's probably the automatic braking system, it can be a bit scary if you're not sure what it is.
