Just bought a 71 Plate GTI+

Post by sony »

....

Didn't expect to ever buy a Polo again to be honest. I was hugely into VW's in my 20s and joined this forum years ago- since then have had kids. She had a Zafira and I have a MK3 TT 2.0T quattro.

Well we sold the Zafira and the TT is being sold on Friday, I'll be picking up my GTI+ from Leeds VW.

I couldn't bear parting with the TT- it physically fits the 4 of us in but it's really really cramped at the back so I was told it had to go, and reluctantly I agreed.

The GTI+ is nearly new, in Black Pearl, 6500 miles with all the usual GTI+ spec and the addition of 18s, heated seats and and rear view camera. To my eyes it looks fantastic- I don't quite know if I'm in the target market as I'm now 38 years old but hey ho it will do us absolutely fine. The Polo has all the space we need and at least it's nearly as quick as the TT so a good compromise.

Will post pics when I pick it up Friday. :)

@sony; enjoy your new car. Look forward to seeing the pictures. There are a few GTI / GTI+ owners on the forum but sadly most of them seem to be very quiet these days.

Age is just a number and shouldn’t dictate what car you own and drive. I also have a Polo GTI+ and I’ve been retired nearly seven years! 🙂

Oh you young guns …….

My wife’s GTI+ is over 2 years old now. She loves it.

I drive almost half of the miles on the clock and I love it too.

We find it ideal for only one or 2 occupants, but the ever growing grandchildren are clamouring for more room inside.

The littlest ones wind me up by kicking (dirtying) the back of the seats. Though the second youngest has learned to demand Sport mode and more growling engine noises. Has definitely got his genes from his dad and grandad, who both ride bikes for real fun.

ps - we’re both fully signed up OAPs.
