Needed: two things

1. Name of a good place in the (north) birmingham area to have tracking and maybe balancing done. Gotta get this niggle ironed out. Returning to the original place improved matters but not cured them, doubt it'll ever be right even if I keep going back. Just get it sorted elsewhere and then complain to F1 A/C headquarters...

2. Some way to convince my mum that I DONT need to spend over £3000 all in on a replacement car plus insurance, and that I can not want to buy an escort if i dont want to. Went to just poke around a local used car lot with her this arvo (not doing it solo again after... last time...) and the first thing that caught her eye... jet black 1.6 16v with all the options. £2600. I am so not spending that much on a car, particularly a pre-Focus Ford, and certainly not on one that's going to be over £800 to insure. VERY hard getting this message across though.
Damn, for that money I could have an A4 or a G40 and be verrrrrrry happy instead of riding round in one a' them.

Or a slightly older, less specced Escort (or a 'better' car, even! *polo*ibiza*fabia* ahem) thats just as fine for the use I'll put it to, and partying on the leftovers. (Or more precisely, not getting into tortourous debt. Again.)

I know I'm not helping here (yet) but... what year is that Escort? (I am by no means implying anything here)

1997/1998 i think

British "S"-registration on the offchance it means anything to you. About 78k miles? / 125.000km

There's also a slightly lower specced burgundy one from the previous "R" year (96/97), 68k miles / 110.000km for £2250.. Not that i'm any more attracted to it. Granted, they look like decent enough motors just for trotting about in and externally are in pristine condition... but the driving experience is bobbins so far as I've heard and there's just the whole image of the thing  And I just dont have that kind of money to throw at a car! Well I would, but I wouldnt be able to fuel or service it afterwards...
Granted also they come with a years warranty, but there's plenty places do the same for cars that are a lot less expensive.

And if I was to get an escort it'd be from a mate of mine - white 1.4, a few years older with about 80-90k miles on, still a 5 door (the rear doors a bit tight on those however), comfortable enough still with the ability to cruise at 110mph across the continent... Does the job... and for considerably less outlay.

Ahem. Anyway. Tracking. :D Kwik Fit any good? Personal recco from family member, and despite (because of?) the raised price they seem quite decent last time I used them.
