6R Cruise Control Retrofit Problems

The fuse holder is connected to the cable of the kufatec tempomat kit that can be connected to t73a/44.

To do the new scan, do I remove the cruise control coding from VAGCOM? or do I keep it activated?

Where is the T6 connector located?.

I think it's pretty obvious from the pictures where the T6 connector is located. Remove the side cover of the dashboard and you will see it.

The faults for the CCS do not matter, we already know that it works, and that in this new autoscan there will be faults related to the CCS.
We are in the investigation phase.

With three easy steps you could have removed the fuse box and inserted the +15 CCS wire into any of the slots adjacent to fuse 11 (10, 12, 13, etc) they are all +15 signal.

1) I have verified the continuity between t73a/44 and t6/4 with a multimeter.

2) I have verified the continuity between sb11 and t6/4 with a multimeter.

3) I have connected the original fuse to sb11, the autoscan is exactly the same as the previous one I sent. There has been no cruise control fault.

Now, in those same conditions, CLEAR ALL DTCs and check if they come back.

SOLVED! I have erased the faults and with a new scan I no longer see any errors! Yesterday when I verified the entire installation I improved the union between the yellow/black cable and the blue/black cable and then I did the scan without erasing the faults, so I guess that's where the error was, all day going around and I already had it solved. Thank you very much for your help indeed. You are incredible.

Hi all

I'm planning to replace non-CC stalk 6Q0 953 503 EE with one that has it. I see several with EJ suffix, and others here seem to have used that part number - are there others?

I'm happy to make up a loom to BCM, ECU and unused fuse slot, and may well add wires for MFSW-lite (audio only) while I'm at it as I may fit that some time in the future and it'll be tidier as a single bundle. But if someone does ready made looms at a reasonable price in UK I'd be interested to hear about it. Alternatively if anyone has recommended cutting lengths it'll save one trip under the dashboard .

EE to EJ is the correct swap.
Beware of other more current stalks references, the steering slip ring (G85) does not fit.

Hmm... 110 - 120 mm from Stalks to BCM for easy installation and run the loom through the place that you consider to be the best.

On the other hand, it is very likely that there are companies in the UK that sell these looms. (googling, or your browser)
I seem to remember that iichel also currently manufactures them on request.

The easiest way to connect to the LIN is t28/16 from memory. That's the white and purple wire that goes to the window motors in the doors. You'll find it in the hinge of the door and it's very easy to reach. Much easier than soldering near the BCM.

For power I'd recommend to go to the fuse box for +30/+15 (permanent/ignition live) with a small fuse. Or perhaps the blue/black wire for +15 (ignition live) that normally powers the wiper stalk.

Yes, I meant 'cm', my fault.

110cm seems long, but I assume it was this to allow for taking it on a steady route and clipping to relevant places?

Nothing is written about the lengths of the retrofit looms, sometimes even the original VW repair looms are too short by choosing the correct installation path.

Saving on wiring lengths is a serious mistake.
My preference is to build the wiring looms on the vehicle itself when retrofitting.

For the BCM you need mqs - micro quadlock system.
For your CAY ECU, the mqs is also fine
For the stalks you also need the mqs terminal
For the sb10 and sb11 fuse the junior power timer is what you need.

I don't know the exact oem references for the repair wires since I never use them. Minimum cross area should be 0,35mm2, this is the smallest that the oem repair wires go anyway. So that's fine as well.

If you want to splice the door connector terminal for the linbus, it's the micro power timer male terminal.

I have already done my first trip with the cruise control and it works great.

A curiosity, I have an RCD 330 radio installed in the Volkswagen polo which works very well and has Android Auto with a cable connection, the only bad thing about it is that it hardly charges my mobile battery even if it is a long trip, well today in a two-hour trip has left my battery at 100%. Could there be any relationship between having cruise control installed and the radio charging my phone faster with the USB connection?

No the oem usb port connection is very poor at charging. In any system.

Were you pressing the accelerator harder ?

More seriously, were you using a different charging lead? Some will allow the phone and charging port to negotiate a faster charge strategy. I have a super little Belkin "wall wart" that will (slowly) charge my laptop via USB C while travelling, and shows "fast charging" on my Android phone if I use the correct lead (but not otherwise).

Same radio, same cable, same mobile, only the cruise control installation has changed and now it loads faster than before...
